Hi everybody

My question is I have a Sony laptop which run's Windows XP Home Edition and I want to run Windows XP Professional X64. I'm not sure if my laptop is going to run this, and also I don't want to go through all these process and in the end I end up with no operating system. My Sony laptop come with preinstalled software including all the applications and operating system, but I want to format my computer (delete all the software) to build my own application. To many software I have now is out of date or I don't need them but becasue in most of Sony laptop you won't be able to configure the hidden portions of your factory installed application.

Here are my system information:

Model: PCG-K315S
CPU: Mobile Intel Pentium 4 Processor 532, 3.06 GHz
HDD: 40 GB
RAM: 512 MB
O/S: Windows XP Home Edition

My main question would be, is it possible to run the "X64" version of Windows XP Pro in this laptop?

Thanks

no it is not possible. it only has a p4 which is not 64 bit. even if u could, xp 64 bit edition is only for developers. it has limited driver support, and not many programs can run on it. idk y ppl want to run 64 bit windows on there computers.

No. You will need either an Intel Core Duo or Core 2 Duo CPU to run X64. You can also use any of AMD's 64 bit CPUs. 64 bit Windows will not work with many programs and periphrials. Even if you were to run 64 bit, i would reccomend using a dual boot scenario and have 32 bit available to you.
