how long does it take a cavity to reach the root. i hvae to wait one week. Will it reach the root by then?

I doubt it. Cavities usually grow quite slowly, and it would take many months or even years to reach the root. In one week it will be practically the same size it is now. Good luck with the filling!

it takes awhile =I don't think it is very deep if you have to wait a week=the dentist would have fit you in if it was really bad

No. Cavities progress rather slowly and a week should not have an effect.
