Good for you on stopping your cutting for a few weeks! What you need to do is figure out what triggers these episodes? Whats going on around you or in your life when you start cutting? The theory I've heard is that people who cut are trying to relieve some type of emotional pain. The pain from the cut takes their mind off of whats really troubling them. When you get this urge to cut, STOP....And think about what is going on at exactly that time. If you can, lie down and take a few deep breaths. Relax...tune out the world and think of something that makes you smile....Whether its a pet, a friend, something from your past. Focus on that and let your mind drift. This is meditating, and the more you do it the better you'll feel. If this doesn't work for you, please seek professional help. Your doctor or local crisis center can help you to help yourself. Good luck my friend

Sweetheart, you can't stop by yourself. Find out where you can go when you feel the need to cut. There may be a mental health clinic available to you, or you may have to use the Emergency area at the hospital. But you physically have to pick yourself and take yourself to get help. And you have to find out where you can go any time of day. Needing to cut doesn't happen at convenient times of the day. Maybe even going to the women's shelter would be better than trying to handle it alone. You will be able to stop cutting in time and that is only because you want to stop. And believe me you will still have urges, but you have to know where to go for help. That in itself will be a great help to you. If you don't have a family member or close friend who understands, you have to make a buddy away from home who will stand by you. A counsellor, maybe a nurse, even a cop. There are emergency help numbers you can call, but a familiar voice will help you along more easily than a stranger.
You can beat this thing. Those scars will be souvenirs of bad times and you don't want that. No one does.

Please go see your Doctor. You need to get into counseling to help you deal with and figure out why you feel the need to cut yourself. Cutting is like a release and you need help to find a new way to cope! There is help for you! Don't be afraid to get it! More people than you know have problems such as yours! Do not be afraid of being judged!
The only thing I can suggest until you get help is that if you feel like cutting, force yourself to get out of the house and go for a walk or a run. Even call a friend to go with you. Most often physical activities help to relive some stress and you may feel stronger when you get home and no longer feel the need to cut! Don't forget to turn to those that love you! If this is something that they don't know about, that you have been able to hide from them, they may be shocked at first. Remember though that they can help you to get the help that you need!
All the best!

It is good that you WANT to stop cutting.
"Something just came over me"......is the explaination of a person with a psychological illness.
You are going to need to see a Dr. or therapist over a period of months for them to work with you, learning what makes you do this to yourself, and learning new ways to cope.
It's your health, your body, and your mind. It is going to be up to you to ask for help, and to work to get well.
