Interesting question- I love to try new drink. Some I've tried lately that I've enjoyed are a Black Widow, Skinny ***** and Love Potion #9.
If you're looking for popular drinks there are many drinks such as a Gray hound, Screwdriver, Mimosa, Jack and Coke, Bloody Mary to name a few.
If you're looking for ideas for a party try this- I had a party once where I got Vodka, Jack, Rum and Patron and then asked each guest to bring there mixer they prefer. It worked great!

Wine gives bad hangovers...beer just does bad things to my stomach

I like making my own drinks with whatever I have in my house.. Gatorade, and half shot of vodka and half shot of pineapple flavored rum taste good.
kiwi strawberry juice and pineapple rum taste good.
When i want to pregame and too cheap to leave my house for good stuff to mix...i just open my fridge and find random juices. Sometimes I will take whatever fruit or sherbet i have and mix that in the blender for a alcoholic smoothie!!
As for professional drinks...nothing beats a rum and coke

My favorite cocktail doesn't really have a name as far as i know. You take a tall glass put apple vodka, sprite or 7 whichever you have on hand and a splash of sour. Its really good and doesn't have that alcohol taste to it.

i've never had any cocktails (uless you count shrimp cocktail as one) but I know some names of cocktales. My favorite cocktail name is the Fuzy Navel.
