I am 17. If I where to go out with someone who is 14, would I be classed as, what some people call, "a cradle snatcher"?

ok, im not looking to have sex with her... im not that kinda guy!! I thought it was too young myself.. altho it is only 3 years... she is still 14. if i was 19 and she was 16, it might seem more proper... thats ok. Thanks for all your answers, was just wondering your opinions!!

I know alot of 14 year olds dress and talk like they are older but make no mistake about it - they are too young to be dating a 17 yo. Find someone your own age!

At your age, yes. However if you were both 5 years older it may be okay. This is mostly because you are both in very different stages in your life and mental development. However if you are a young 17 year old (just turned 17) and this person is an old 14 year old, then its more suitable. Also because of the way teen boys and girls develop mental, you being a boy and her being a girl would also make it more suitable.
In the end, age is just a number. If the two of you and your parents are okay with it and you are not control or impose anything on this person or pressure this person then I think its okay.
You cannot be put in jail unless you are having a sexual relationship with the 14 year old and the 14 year olds parents want to prosecute you. However if you would like to check the laws in your state (or country if you are not a US resident) you can look here:

At 17, you are too young for certain activities that come with dating. That means it is most definitely too young for a 14 year old. While you may not technically qualify as a cradle robber, you could be accused of something far worse, even legal. So I suggest that if you want to date, that you select someone who is your peer or a little bit older, someone who would understand the responsibilities, issues, problems, and pleasures of being with a person of the opposite sex. I wish you luck .

age aint nothing but a number its only a 3 year differences nothing is wrong with that. its just how mature you and her about dating. alot of older people dont realize they were just as young like that when they were older 3 to 5 year difference its nothing but a number. But alos make sure u guys both focus on your school work because thats an important and no its not cradle snatcher. Good luck

maybe you should research the law about that. in some states....17 yr olds are considered adults. then again..when i was 17...i wouldn't be caught dead with any 14 yr olds. if your an adult..forget the name "cradle snatcher" you would be known as a child molester. is that worth it?

umm i personally don't think so. i'm 14 and i have had many 16 and 17 year old guys ask me out. i wouldn't go out with any because i know why they want me but if you want her for the right reason, its not too bad. but that is 3 years difference so make sure your respecting her and you wanna make sure its alright with her parents. thats important.
xoxo.

Yes, and the minimum jail time is 3 years. When you get out you will have to register as a sex offender, forget about finding a good job, constant scrutiny from parents of children you live next to. They will make your life a living hell. Now tell yourself is it worth it.

Probably, find someone closer to your own age. You'll have more things in common. Like they say, don't rob the cradle.
