Let's assume Patreaus is accurate and impartial.
At best, he's going to be summarizing the rest of the reports that have already come in on (terrorist activity up, Iraq troops strength down, casualties at record highs, no political progress by the new Iraq govt).
What could he say that would change those realities? So, unless things magically get better in the next 6 weeks (4 of which Iraq govt is on vacation), his report isn't going to change anything.

Yes. Why should a bunch of know-nothing politicians call the shots? They agreed to him being the top military man in Iraq and now they want to quit? Doesn't surprise me we are seeing the war micro-managed from D.C. Considering the funds for the "surge" were not available until almost two months ago, I'd say he's done a pretty good job with one of his arms tied behind his back.

We already know how things are going in Iraq. How much progress is going to be made in 2 months? If Patreaus says things are going swimmingly, would you believe him? I'm sure he's under tons of pressure from the White House to make a positive report.
Waiting 2 more months makes no sense whatsoever.

Nope we should just take measures to end the problems in Iraq, by shoving the Insurgency into Iran then Drop a bunch of Nukes on them.

Petraeus is cool and all, but Tommy Franks was the man for the job. After he retired, we haven't been able to find an officer who is equal to him.
