Being arrested will not generally disqualify anybody from anything. Lots of innocent people are arrested. What may be disqualifying is a conviction.

There are alot of jobs that frown on a criminal background, but most will not hold it against you, unless it is for something really bad. An example would be, if you got busted for littering, that would not be as bad as if you were arrested for assault. Anyway, since you appear to be smart enough to stay out of trouble, I wouldn't worry about it, dear.

more states are requiring teachers to report criminal records which include misdemeanors. this can particularly come into play when applying for a new job.
the one area to be very careful is with so called "sex crimes." the government includes indecent exposure (such as skinny dipping and peeing behind a building) in this category because nudity is involved.

No that is not true. It is possible to get arrested falsely. Getting arrested is one thing, being convicted in court is another. It is the convictions you have to worry about.

A lot of variables.......... If it was a felony..... forget it.. you are done.
If it was for a controlled substance.... 95 % no. Misdemeanor weed... maybe you are ok... once.
Any child abuse or sexual battery or other crime of violence... never.
You need to research the laws of your state or the state you want to teach in and find out exactly what the rules are.

The fear is what keeps you from doing something foolish to get arrested.
Its amazing how this works on the normal person like you and I.
I dunno Mandy...I think you have a pretty good shot at a teaching career with that attitude. Good luck and hope you excell in your profession.

Your best bet is to move to Vernonia Or. where even the school principle will not get fired for getting arrested for smoking pot:

I think it depends on what you were arrested for.
Drugs probably not
Sex crime (rape etc...) probably not.
Not paying a parking ticket probably yes.
I'm sure it depends on the state and school district also

Not true, unless the conviction is a felony (provided you get convicted).
