In order to be recongnized as married by the roman catholic church, a roman catholic must be married in a church of their own. Otherwise, it is not recognized as an official marriage.

Yes. The Byzantine Catholics are under the Pope, however the Byzantine Rite is far more showy, with all the really cool bells and smells... sure you wanna just go Roman?

Sorry I'm prejudiced towards the Byzantine Rite because I'm a person who was born and raised Byzantine and loved the whole thing by comparison to the Roman Mass, even the Tridentine.
