if you see someone with scars all over their hands - some old some new?

could they be a heroin user ?

they are all small scars - nick like even. and they work in IT so they're not exposed to razors often or nothing. doesnt look like CUTS just seems weird

yah but do you have a dozen healed and a dozen healing on each hand ? seems odd doesnt it ?

It could be from anything. Maybe they do a lot of yardwork involving thorny bushes, and they don't wear gloves. Maybe they have a dozen cats. Maybe they like to punch glass windows for fun. Maybe they have a rare skin condition.

I doubt it's from injecting drugs though. From what I understand, most people who inject drugs will do it in their arms, and only move on to other places like the hands when the arm veins have deteriorated. At that point, I doubt they would be functional enough to hold a job.

I have scars all over my hands and arms. I'm impulsive and move too quickly and am klutzy. I ripped the skin off my arm tossing a tomato cage out of my way (it caught on my skin), I was slicing an onion and the knife slipped but my finger didn't, I put my hand in the oven and accidentally touched the top burner, I break glasses when I'm washing them. You name it. It doesn't have to be intentional self-destruction, and I'm only on drugs (Excedrin) when I have a migraine.

It depends on what the scars look like - marks from a needle would be small, round scabs or bruises. Scars from self-cutting would look like razor cuts, long and thin. Scars from burning yourself with a cigarette would be small and round, possibly white if they are old.
