I wish I could accurately answer this question, but in truth, there are many different kinds of Baptist churches and many different kinds of Church of God.
The two biggest Baptist denominations are the Southern Baptists (very conservative) and the American Baptists (moderately liberal). There are also numerous smaller Baptist denominations.
There are probably 20 denominations in the USA that call themselves The Church of God. They range broadly in membership size. Most are fairly conservative, but some are pentecostal, others are simply fundamentalist, and others still evangelical.
All of the above are protestant churches, and so are fairly similar in theology. However, when it comes to Christian denominations, you can almost always count on the similarities being largely ignored and the differences being highlighted.

Most churches have a website. Most of these websites include a statement of faith or statement of doctrine. Go look at these if you can find them.
If both churches hold to the typical teachings I can save you some time ....... Go read .... 1 Corinthians 12.
This chapter lists the 9 gifts of the manifestation of the holy spirit. They were first given to the Disciples after Jesus
(Acts 2)
Most baptist believe that these gifts were temporary, and are no longer in use today. People belonging to the Church of God however typically embrace the gifts in today's age. I've heard extreme radicals on both sides say the other's view of the matter is a doctrine of demons.
I was raised baptist, and I became intreged with the subject. I stuided it on both sides for years before I took a stance. You do the same. And if at any point you get confused ... the person you are speaking to does not know what they are talking about. Whether you end up believing that they are just a part of christian history or tools of evangalism their concepts are simple.
Have a nice day and God bless

Church of God is more evangelical than the Baptist church. Also, the COG is more fundamentalist then Baptist church. Both believe the Bible. Either is a good place to be.

THIS IS EASY. THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT THE BAPTIST CHURCHES WILL EXCEPT ANY MAJOR CREDIT CARDS USED FOR THE COLLECTION PLATE. ALSO SOME BAPTIST CHURCHES HAND OUT FANS TO KEEP YOU COOL DURING SERVICES.

Why don't you call and ask his pastor? He can explain it a lot better than we can.
