Yes, oh yes..... Im a grandmother to a beautiful 18 month old grandson. Its completely different to being a parent.
Are you a grandparent too?
What do you enjoy about your role?
How do you feel it's different to just parenting?
(Please don't take 'just' to mean I think parenting is ever easy or straightforward!)

First of all, we must set good examples. Ask yourself, would you be happy if this child turned out to be just like me? I have three grandchildren, headed in three different directions, all good. They were brought up in Christian homes and have all had good direction in their lives.

Being a grandparent, we really don't have the direct responsibility of the child, and although we can present our opinions about things, we must stand back and let the parents and the grandchildren themselves make the final decisions. We are there to offer counseling and advise, when asked.

I enjoy watching them grow into young adults, and see maturity that I lacked at that age. I love to see their successes and I want to be there when they fail, to offer good advise and any help that I can offer.

One piece of advice, take a lot of pictures and write on the back of them, who is in the picture and the date, and any other pertinent info. 100 years from now, those pictures will probably still be around.

I've been a grandma for only a month, but I could never imagine before that I could instantly love someone as much as my own children...but it's that way with grandchildren!
I heard a cute saying that if people knew how fun it was to be a grandparent, they would have done it first. : )

I know you must love your grandson...I love my granddaughter, but when her mother ran off and took her with her, leaving my son alone without an explanation or goodbye, it broke my heart. So, frankly, I don't much love being a grandmother just now.

my oldest is 16 ... so hopefully a few more years to becoming a grandparent
but I would love another baby myself , going through that again eeek
but alas , not sure it is meant to be
so would love the day when there is a little one in the house again
I have noticed that the love for a grandchild is an amazing type of love ... different from your own children
i want to experience that

I love the way that they love me back. I can give in to them and spoil them (but not against their parent's wishes). Couldn't do that with my children. I had to be the disciplinarian. Oh, and one more thing. I can send them home!

This question seems to assume that all in R & S are grandparents.

I would have to see more evidence.
