NO, not at all. My family Pit Bull is 5 years old and is the sweetest most even tempered dog I have ever seen. We have a dog play group which includes my 2 Labs, my friends have a total of 4 Pit Bulls all from different families and there are 2 GSD and 3 Rotties and 1 cane corso. Not once in 3 years have we had a fight because all teh dogs are well socialized, well trained and have been raised right. All 4 Pits live in different homes are all adults and all have different breeding. There are no bad dogs only bad, irresponsible owners. I have rescued and fostered many dogs and all that were aggressive and most all the behaviors can be traced back to bad owners or lack of training. Some of the most aggressive dogs are the little ones, yes they are small and most people disregard their behavior because of there size. But it does not make it right and no ne ever critizes them

Pit bulls, in their various incarnations were made to fight other dogs. Gameness was prized in a pitbull:

1. The threshold for getting into a tangle is low
2. The threshold for quitting a fight is high

There are different forms of aggression but dominance aggression is probably what you are thinking about. Pit bulls may not be aggressive to humans as that trait was not desirable. Pitbulls can be aggressive towards other dogs.

I think that true pit bull enthusiasts understand this about their dogs and watch for dog aggression. Pit bulls who are perfectly friendly puppies can show aggression as they mature.

My unprofessional opinion - yes. any dog can be aggressive. are they right from the start, no. this has to be taught.
Last night on the news, there was a story about a pitt attacking an elderly woman & her granddaughter. THe dog was stabbed repeatedly by the granddaughter & shot 2 times by the cops before is died. Very scarry. + there was a puppy pit tied up in the backyard. Sadly, it will probably put to sleep b/c they don't know how it was treated. The story said that the owners had had the police/animal control called on them before for an aggressive pit. They were not sure if it was the same one that was killed.
I'm not sure that this dog was probably treated very well, & that probably contributed to his behavior.
@ the dog park though, there are several pits & they are SO sweet & cute & just love to play & get pets.

Absolutely not.

My parents had a Pit Bull when my sister and I were little. She was the sweetest dog and a terrible coward (she'd shake from fright during thunderstorms). I used to ride her like a horse and she put up with a lot of ear grabbing and tail pulling when I was a toddler. People are always shocked to hear that my mom let us play with a Pitt Bull, but it all comes down to temperament and the environment in which the dog is accostumed. Aggressive dogs come from irresponsible pet owners.

There's no such thing as a breed of dog where all individuals are aggressive, any more than there's such thing as a race of people where all individuals are the same.

Pit bulls were raised to be aggressive fighters in the past. Dumb people still do this to them because they're under the misunderstanding that it's cool. With the proper upbringing, pit bulls are the same as any dog.

woo hoo was the closest, explaining the development of the breed. No, all pit bulls are not aggressive. A lot IS how they are raised. However, knowing their inbred temperament, an owner should ALWAYS be aware that tendancy might be there and be cautious.

A neighbor of mine had a couple I dogsat. Nice dogs. But I took care of them at her house, did not bring them to my house with my dogs.

A friend of mine had a puppy socialization class with several different breeds of pups, various ages. The pitt puppy was frolicking with, I think, a Shepherd pup playing fine. While they ran and tousled they knocked into another puppy who in his surprise let out a yelp. The Pitt immediately attacked the pup by its throat.

Owners must keep in mind what dogs were bred to do.

NO!!!! I have a 1yr old pit and she has never been agressive toward people or other animals. Pit bulls are victim of bad press and irresponsible owners, not bad genes. If a pit is raised with love and affection it will be just as loving as any other dog maybe even more so. Mine is great with everyone and I wouldn't trade her for the world!

NO not all are aggressive! I have a pit and he is not aggressive. Its all in how you raise them! they are like children you have to teach them whats right and whats wrong! They are not born aggressive and the whole thing about its in their jean is not true. As i read the answer more and more I see that people dont know very much about the breed. They are not breed to fight they were breed to wrangle bulls, thats where their name came from "pitbull". Im sorry but do you see the picture of what people do to this breed and they are baning them for what? Pitbulls need alot of attention and patiance! But they are very smart learner if you work with them. Its not their fault they are raise wrong.. I love my puppy and i love that breed so forget the haters!

definite, anybody is uneducated approximately pit bulls. Human aggression became into specifically bred OUT of the pit bull. they're VERY friendly to people. And whilst a number of them do tend to have canines aggression, with early socialization it is prevented besides. I easily have a a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous pit bull who can exchange anybody's concepts approximately pit bulls. My mom does not like canines, and she or he HATES pit bulls. once I have been given mine, i became into particular she does not touch her. rather, Cadence sits in her lap and provides her kisses on her face, and my mom loves her. in my view, a properly balanced, properly behaved pit bull is the final canines breed. they are able to be stunning canines! whats up Cav: you ought to accomplish a little extra learn on pit bulls, and canines assaults in many situations in case you rather have faith that. Labs and cocker spaniels are lots extra possibly to chew a human that a pit bull. and a lot of 'pit bull assaults' that are pronounced have been easily diverse canines breeds that somebody mistook for a pit bull. And, i became into attacked with the aid of a GOLDEN RETRIEVER who left scars on my face. Any canines may be raised to be an aggressive canines, and any breed may be raised to be a loving relatives better half.
