Because I think its hilarious that my cat "tells" me what he wants. When he wants canned food, he always does something to get my attention & then walks into the kitchen. I can ask him what he wants & he goes over to the bowl & smells of it! Then the other one comes & starts meowing at me. That would make anyone laugh & feel better! Just the joy of knowing they are happy & feel loved.

I believe your self esteem soars as a caregiver.
I also love feeding wild birds everywhere I go. I keep food in my car and find hungry birds at almost every stop. Somehow, I know they are grateful and will have a meal.

I love to cook, and so I love to feed everybody. They love it, and on Thanksgiving while the family gets the turkey, kitties get giblets. It's always nice to do things for your loved ones. My husband loves to feed the wet food because it makes kitties happy. Now, if you felt bad when you fed kitty, I'd worry. Humans are like that, they bond over food, among other things.

As a wife and mother, one of my most pleasant times was when I set a good meal in front of those I loved. Sometimes it was appreciated; sometimes it was not. But now I'm alone except for my pets and they are always happy to see the food set down just as they are always happy to see me come home. Not always so with humans!
Pets give unconditional love.

i dont know about you,
but when you have 4 dogs to feed
feeding them isnt very claming,
especially when theyre trying to steal eachothers food and getting into fights. its probably different if you only have one cat though.

to me, it makes me happy knowing that my cat needs me and depends on me and it makes me feel important to him.
