If we, as a society, decided to teach our children insanely improbable "truths" about the world, do you think they would believe them?

Absolutely. My two home-schooled nieces believe that the Earth is 6,000 years old, that dinosaurs roamed the planet with man and that Methuselah lived to be 969 years old. They also believe in the Loch-ness monster and Bigfoot. I kid you not.

Just look at sociological maps on the distribution of belief.

For most, (there are exceptions, naturally) it's determined by what is believed by your family and your locality.

Example below, just on Christian denominations.

We largely "sell" what we've been "sold" by our parents and those around us, so yes, a new message could be passed on if, and it's a massive if, the duty and conviction could be imposed on or created in adult society in the first place.

Let's see...Santa Claus...the Tooth Fairy, The Easter Bunny....we do a pretty good job from the beginning...teaching kids things that are not true...and unless they would be told otherwise...would continue to believe such half-truths and outright lies.

Excellent point you have made with your question....

Nazis did this to Jewish children during the Holocaust, raised them in all black and white rooms, low light, only certain vitamins and nutrients.

Very sick stuff, but to answer your question, anything is possible.

Oh, and not sure about the rest, but the ones raised in black and white, when they saw colour for the first time in their lives, they went insane.

yes, children are raised to believe in their Gods, Santa, some are raised to be little hateful bigots.

children can be taught to believe in anything, but the teaching needs to be done in the first five years of life.

Sure they would. Santa, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy...

When I was young, my sister went to my dad and said that she had accidentally removed the tag on her pillow that said "DO NOT REMOVE UNDER PENALTY OF LAW! (unless by consumer)." I had her convinced that there was a special section of the FBI called the Pillow Patrol that sneaks into American citizen's homes at night to check their mattresses and pillows, and that she was gonna get busted and tossed in prison.

My dad and I laughed about that one for a whole month!

I'm not so willing to confuse children that way... There are already a good number of lies that children are being fed., Just pick one of those. Santa is a good example.
