Well, I cried while watching The Passion of The Christ movie. I think it has more to do with the way he was treated and ridiculed that hurt me so much.

I see your point. However, because of our depravity someone had to create a way for us to be saved. He had to be perfect so that rules out any ordinary person. It had to be Jesus. The more depraved a person is the more grateful he is for that gift. By the way Evan B has it backwards. The criminal did not ask for the five year old daughter to take the punishment, the victim asked for the punishment and the five year old girl did it willingly. The criminal had no say in the matter. He could be grateful or not.
Jesus offers his crucifiction and resurrection as a gift to us. He holds it in his hands offering it to us daily. We can accept it or walk away. Still many walk away. I choose to gratefully accept it.

Why should we feel sad?? He didn't shed His blood and get beat up so severely that He was unrecognizable as a human just to have a bunch of wimpy mourners who sit around groaning. We are called to carry on and be warriors of the cross, to fight lies and perversions and to live fruitful lives. No, I feel deep sadness when I open my mouth and speak when I shouldn't or do something else that is wrong in His eyes. Jesus wants us to look not at His pain, but at His sacrifice that bled " I love you though you forsake me." Yes, Jesus did die for you. Even if you never acknowledge that, it won't lessen Jesus' sacrifice one bit.

It's a real catch-22. This is where all Christian guilt stems from. It's why Christianity is such a powerful spiritual medium. Someone who dies for you - and you believe it - can literally call in any type of favor.
"Hey, Jim, you know I died for you, right?"
"Yeah, Jesus."
"Well, I'm gonna need you to go ahead and go without sex until you get married."
"Oh... well. Yeah, I guess I owe you one."
On the other hand, now you're saved from hell. It's hard not to be happy about that - considering the horrible things we plan on doing to the Christians that falter once they get down there.
Hail Satan,
Laz

If you had a friend with a gangrene-infected leg and the only way to save his (or her) life was for the doctors to amputate it, would it be possible for you to be glad that they did so (otherwise your friend would die) while feeling sad or remorseful that they had to do so?
Likewise, Christians can be grateful that Jesus chose to die on the cross for us while feeling remorse that our sin necessitated such a sacrifice. And we can be happy that we believe that he did so because that fulfills the intended purpose of his sacrifice: to get people to believe in him.

Yes, we were reminded of this the other day at church. One of our apostles had a vision of Jesus is the Garden of Gethsemane, when his pain for our sins was so great that he bled at every pore. The Apostle felt such great compassion for Jesus that he felt he would do anything to prevent one more of his sins from being lain on Jesus shoulders. When we have compassion on Jesus, we try to avoid sinning.
Yes, I am grateful for his sacrifice that sets me free... and you are right that we should feel remorse or sadness for his pain. But amazed gratitude that he did it all willingly.

Remember, Jesus was resurrected after he was crucified, hence the Easter holiday. It makes me sad about the pain he had to endure during the crucifixion, but I am very grateful (I agree, happy is not the right word to use) that he died (but was later resurrected) on the cross to save me.

I am sad that Jesus was tortured and unjustly executed ( and I am saddened that anyone is treated unjustly and cruelly) but i am so grateful and happy that He died and rose for me and all who live by His Grace and for the salvation of all.
Jesus would have gone through all he went through even if i were the only one who needed it. For me the incarnation, death and resurrection of Christ reveals that God is not Just Power but that He is Eternal and Outreaching Love.

Yeah, it's especially saddening because he prayed for salvation in Gesthemane the night before he died, even though he knew he would die. Can you imagine being in that position? That makes feel so sad.

Of course, I think about it quite often, especially on Good Friday...I think most Christians need a reminder of how cruely He suffered for our sins, it certainly does make me feel deep gratitude and respect for Him and what He did for me. What we are most happy about is that he came back to life in 3 days and that all our sins have been washed away! We also have joy in knowing that death has been conquered and we have eternal life to look forward to.
