He's playing on ur age and lack of experience in these situations. You must be a darn good waitress if he's asking you to work so much.
Is there anyway you can just work while the forty person table is there and then cut out. He probably needs you to handle he other stations or better the forty person table.
Just see if you can come to a happy medium.
and tell him your plans are with your family and your moom and dad were PISSED when he changed the schedule, dont ever be afraid to lie to your boss, you already see how they will play you!

Calling in sick is a bad idea; they will know what you're up too and fire you anyway. You should handle it maturely. Advise them that you made plans that day that can not be postponed. It's none of there business what your plans are. You have the right to deny working that day because you were not scheduled for that day to begin with. In some cases it's good to get your parents involved. Some businesses will try to run over young adults just because they think they don't know any better or how to fight for them selves. I would let your parents know what's going on and have them talk to them.
Also make sure it's in writing the amount of hours you are to work per week. An if you want to work any more than that it's your prerogative. You're doing them a favor when it's anything more then that.
Good luck with your day off!

Call back and let the manager know that you appreciate the fact that he offered you the extra hours, but that you will be unable to work this Sunday.
If he gets nasty, remind him that you and the owner had a pre-hire agreement on the number of hours you would be working, which was x hours. Keep repeating yourself like a broken record - sorry I won't be able to work on Sunday, etc.
The worst he can do is to fire you, and then you can have a discussion with the owner about what a d*ck his manager is..... :)
Good luck.

When is the schedule posted? And for what days? If it wasn't on the posted schedule - tell them you made plans based on the schedule, and you're sorry - you'd like to help out - but you can't change your plans.
If Sunday is a new schedule - and you were thinking you had Sunday off because you worked all week - you are out of luck. The good news is that if you worked full days last week - if you worked 6 days you might be entitled to overtime.

If you dont show up, your employer may fire you. That's the chance you take. Call again and ask if there is any way you can get off work and see if they want you to call and ask someone if they would fill in for you.
You could also call in sick Sunday.

Welcome to the wonderful adult world of work, and earning a living, it is another reason why education is soooo important. But even then sometimes you have to do what is required. Many times your plans will be interrupted by work that is just how it is. It still is your choice but either way you will have to live with the consequences of your choices. Whatever they may be, time to make an adult decision.

If you want to keep the job, you'll show up Sunday to work. Or see if another watress will trade shifts with you.
Don't lie to your boss, though, that will bite you in the *** later. Either talk to him in person about it, find someone to trade, quit the job, or suffer through it.

better tell the truth about your plans, if your manager is smart and considerate ,he'll understand you, if not, it will again cause you strain in the future.
