Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,

10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,

Sorry no...as bad as it was, the 9-11 attacks destroyed a few buildings...the destruction described here is total and absolute. The city will NEVER recover when this prophecy.

Babylon was a great city, the ruins of which are located about 80 km from Bagdad. Interestingly enough, Saddam Hussein started rebuilding they city in the 80s and though his plans were delayed by the first gulf war and then ended with the second, it is certainly conceivable that references to Babylon in Revelation are really talking about Babylon! Other scriptures suggest that Babylon WILL be rebuilt. According to Wikipedia, the New York Times reported in 2006 that, "...UN officials and the Iraqi administration have plans for restoring Babylon, making it a gem of a new Iraq as a cultural center complete with shopping malls, hotels, and maybe even a theme park."

No. This scripture, ( or other specific scriptures, directly,), in Revelation, Daniel, or Ezekiel, or etc., is NOT about 9-11 or the United States. - These are solid and true 'prophesies' about the 'end times', (coming in the near future). Prophesies that are, even now, coming alive in the middle east. -

The city, in prophesy, 'called Babylon', is, 'the last revival of the old Babylonian Empire',...(which became the 'Roman Empire', centuries ago). Revelation, declares that, 'in the end times, (which we are in NOW), that old Roman Empire will revive, ( as the 'European Union', [now forming in the middle east]); - the Antichrist will head it up, - and the world will be threatened with 'extinction', - and, finally, Jesus the Christ will actually return to earth, - to save the world, physically, - and set up God, our Fathers', government here on earth; (for 1000 years). - THEN the new heavens and earth , ...forever. (Read Revelation! and Daniel! with some help from the true 'church of God', > "The United Church of God;" @www.ucg.org).

Please, put forth the effort to 'seek out' the TRUTH from the source I have given you here.

Jesus said!!, (John 8:32), "Know the truth and the truth will set you free."

Its pretty clear that all the kings will feel the effects of what would happen to a city that
makes them rich.
In verse 9 it points to an ultimate ending of a great city in more of a devastating view,
resulting in a economic collapse.
Where we stand now since 911 its hard to
find any merit to the verses listed.
Of course theres always a beginning to something, only time will tell.

Depends if you have a historical or futuristic view of Revelation.

Up until the 18th century, most scholars considered it to be concerning the destruction of the temple in 70 AD. David Chilton in his book "Days of Vengence" started to bring this position back into the mainstream.

Most people today consider it to be futuristic, and as such could be interpreted to cover jsut what you say.

An interesting side note, in Chilton's book, there is an explaination of the passage of the woman giving birth and the dragon looking to eat the child as a astrological time stamp. one setting the birth of Jesus at around Sept 11.

The beast of Rev. 17 is the USA. There have been times I thought Rev. 18 reminded me of 9/11, but I would state it definitively; it 9/11 could also be a foretaste of something to come.

You know, when I read that I sometimes wonder if it might not be referring to NYC... some of the descriptions do fit... but 9/11 wasn't the fullfillment of the prophecy. The destruction of that city (whatever it is) on that day will be much more complete.

That said, most biblical scholars agree that the USA doesn't figure anywhere in biblical prophecy.

Well, The Hague is where the World Court is, so there's a city with lots of 'kings'. Paris has more Embassies, so lots of kings there...

Main problem is that the economy of NYC is BOOMING. Manufacturing, tourism, restaurants, real estate....all doing VERY well indeed. So much for verse 11...

I don't recall there being famine that day and who are these kings supposed to be and just how have they commited fornication with the earth? As for the rest of it, commerce is as strong as it ever was...so your point was what?

At this point name *one* city that has had all the kings of the earth visit it.... It' s highly unlikely that even Washington DC has been visited by all the "rulers" of all the nations.

Hmm, not sure that I can think of a single nation that would be missed by all nations.
