There are a lot of things to consider when trying to get a flat tummy.
Try a detox diet first.
Reassess your diet and calorie intake. For most women about 2000kcal is enough but you must watch how much "bad" fat you consume.Avoid the usual sugary and salty foods.Drink lots of water ,2litres a day.
Watch your posture.
Any form of activity that speeds up your heart rate and uses core muscles(abs) will help.
Sit-ups isolate abs when done properly.Activity that involves lifting the knees above waist height like front kicks are easier though.
An exercise ball also helps to isolate abs but you may need help in showing how to do the exercises properly.
Unfortunately some fat knees may be hereditary but not necessarily yours. Power walking or taking a brisk 20 minute walk can start you if running is not your thing.Swimming has a lot of benefits as it gives you the benefits of cardio, endurance and muscle building without the stress of other exercises like jogging etc
When doing any exercise be mindful of your abs keep them a bit firm yet relax into it don't just let it hang out

Properly designed full body training programs, couple with a proper healthy diet, You will lose your belly fat in no time. Get enough quality protein in the daily diet. Think fiber like vegetables, fruits and high fiber unrefined grains. Don't be afraid to eat fat. This can negatively affect hormone levels in your body. Avoid artificial trans fats from margarines, shortening and hydrogenated oils that are in most processed foods and deep friend foods.

situps will not help you get rid of the fat on your tummy. In addition, cardio is not the best solution either as it doesn't create a high enough metabolic response for long term results. A properly designed resistance training routine along with a high nutrient density diet will do more for you than anything else.
A great resource to help you with this...

sit ups arent really for getting rid of the fat on the stomach. they help tone the muscle underneath but if you want to get rid of the flabby-ness you should do cardio :D
