The Catholic Church apologized for what its forebearers did in the past and I am still waiting for Protestants to apologize for the genocide of the Irish Catholics among other things and for Mulsims to apologize for the enslavement of Non Muslims and the conquest of Non Muslim areas with all the attendant horrors in their Jihads and Gazzi Raids( including the enslavement and raiding of my ancestors) and "Infidel taxes".
Repentance clears the air.
Fundamentalists of any faith or none usually are most reluctant to acknowledge the role of theirforebeares in propagating evil but are unforgiving in gloating over the sinners and atrocities in other groups. They are usually not content with that but love to invent and pass on "whoopers' of exaggerated or downright false denounciations of "them".

The Crusades were a response to a call from help from the Byzantine Empire after the Turks had overrun them and desecrated or annexed their churches and homes.
The Inquisition was a court which defended the innocent against nefarious heretics who would otherwise have murdered their souls, dragging them to hell.
Witches are dangerous, and lead to an increase in demonic activity in a given geographic area. These can possess the innocent or even the criminal, and even kill people. The fire of a stake causes pain which can be offered as a prayer, as as mortification of the senses, allowing a final chance for sanctification to the culprit. How could we be so cruel as to deny a witch one last chance for salvation?

Yeah, everyone has a past.
I'm a Christian though... some of my people were the ones that Rome burned at the stake! I can't claim any of the things you listed as past events in my faith. I don't think that followers of Christ did those things. Followers of Popes and Kings were responsible for the things you mentioned.
Just my thought on it!
Not that Christians haven't been in the wrong as well... we certainly have.

I've never heard anyone deny that these things happened, honestly. These were all terribly misguided efforts of people who didn't understand what they were preaching. However, religion has done a lot of good for the world too, which everyone seems to forget. The first orphanages and hospitals were all religiously based, as well as other organizations dedicated to helping society.

Or have "theory" of what occurred. A theory is considered a threat. you are able to say all you like that scientist have shown a "theory" yet its nonetheless purely a theory. you will desire to faith the two way. reason interior the tip you and purely you're able to make the determination to have faith what you prefer to have faith. no count what "data" what "data" others would desire to instruct you.

Well, if you know your Bible, David commiited adultry with Bathsheba and had her husband killed first in battle, Moses killed an Egyptian that worked for his step father , the Pharoah, Noah got drunk and was a bad boy,so I think God is saying He loves all of us who choose to accept him and lets stop judging each other, even His faves were sinners He didn't want to set them up to be goody two shoes because it isn't something we sinners are capable of.

I admit those happened, but I don't think true Christians would do that. Unfortunately, there are still those who call themselves Christian who would do those things though.
"I don't think that followers of Christ did those things. Followers of Popes and Kings were responsible for the things you mentioned."- the guy above me
An excellent point. The Pope is not necessarily a follower of Christ, and, I believe, the Pope deserves no authority. There is no Pope in the Bible.

The Catholic pope actually apologized for the religions actions during WW2, hence why I don't think they are the paramount of evil. Of course for some reason the followers deny he did.

There are LOTS of facts that the various faiths should accept. That doesn't mean that they're going to any time in the near future.
