It is commonly held among Christendom that the Scriptures are divinely inspired. Jesus, Paul, Peter, John, almost all of the disciples and writers of the New Testament quoted extensively from the Old.
As a matter of fact, Peter unequivocally states that all prophecy came from God, and Paul says all Scriptures come from God (not verbatim).
What do you think ?
Personally, I think only the Old Testament is actually divinely inspired, because the New Testament books had to go thru man made requirements in order to be declared inspired.
But I might be wrong, and this is not to say I believe and adhere and follow only the Old Testament.

We are living in a world with too many problems and far too few answers. Many millions regularly go hungry. Increasing numbers are addicted to drugs. More and more families are breaking up. Incest and family violence are constantly in the news. The air we breathe and the water we drink are slowly being poisoned. Meanwhile, more and more of us are victimized by crime.

The Bible offers guidance in matters of morality, and it describes effective solutions to the problems of crime, hunger, and pollution. The trouble is, most people no longer view the Bible as an authority in such matters. At one time, it was listened to with respect, at least in the West. Although the Bible was written down by humans, in the past the majority in Christendom accepted it as the Word of God and believed that God himself had inspired its contents.

However you answer this question, consider this point: If the Bible is merely man’s word, then logically there is no clear answer to mankind’s problems. Humans will just have to muddle through as best they can, hoping somehow to avoid poisoning themselves out of existence or blowing themselves up in a nuclear war. But if the Bible is the Word of God, it is the very thing we need to get us through this difficult time.

It is interesting to learn that all books in the Old Testament and even the New Testament are consistently written in the same style. These are the works of many people over generations, yet consistently is well maintained.

The books may as well be devine inspirations, as they give accounts of God. Without these books, it is impossible for us to obtain the right knowledge about our dear Creator.

However, one thing is for sure. There are contradictions and improper documentary within these books. Based on our current standard, these facts disqualify them from being divine.

Perhaps, when trying to express the inspirations, the ancient scribes made some of their own addition to the text.

wow i have a pretty good answer for u actually..my answer is from a similar question that was proposed, so some of it might not make sense:

OMG..don't you all see that having so many different versions of the Bible indicates a corrupt religion? Many authors, editors, revisors, etc. of the Bible only changed/deleted/added verses to appeal to Christians so they would remain faithful (in other words through lies) and to appeal to people who are interested in converting (the same way). Converting through lies and putting in what people WANT to hear is corrupt. For all we know, the all-loving peaceful Bible could have had some ugly verses that were deleted or replaced with more peaceful ones so that Christianity could not look like a culprit or evil religion in the future. CORRUPTION!

An imperfect, flawed religion indicates that it is disqualified as being the true religion.

When you said, "I think people are seeing the question they want to asnwer, not asnwering what has been asked..."

Well, thats kind of like the Christians changing the Bible into what they want their religion to be like (aka allowing more freedoms, making bad deeds seem less impactful, etc.), not seeking the truth or caring about what is really meant for them.

You're wrong.

It's all, or nothing.

The whole bible is the inspired, inerrant written word of God.

Not just some of it.

Bad translations excepted.

But the authoritive voice of God in the world remains that of the only Church Jesus ever founded.

Jesus never authorized, empowered, or eternally guaranteed the bible.

His Church did that, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, some 400 years after the authentic Church was born.

Not even close. Have you actually read the Old Testament? If it's inspired, it's inspiring to commit atrocities.

The Encyclopedia Britannica is more inspired than the Bible.

Old testament only you say...oops...you'll get stuck with the old laws...better start following them to the letter...there's 613 laws and sub laws in the old testament...remember not to eat pork, and don't shave you got to wear a beard, and don't travel anywhere on Saturday or cook your food or use any power. And I hope you're circumsized...these to mention a few. Whereas the new testament requires only one law be followed. For all the law is fulfilled in a word even this thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Jesus gave us only the commandment, "Love one another"...doing so proves your love for him by loving those he died for. This is love for God that you obey his commandments. So you want to follow the old testament only...Sad! Christ died to set us free from the old law...but you'd have to know the New Testament to know that. Sorry!

lol... inspired does NOT mean "written by god". If people don't understand what "inspired" means, they need to get a dictionary.
