This has been going onfor over a week, and nothing I do helps. It never stops, and I lost a ring because I literally can't feel my ring finger.

What can be done to make it go away? I am having trouble hanging on to things and sometimes have pain half way up my forearm.

To make this go away, you need to figure out where the problem is starting, and what is causing it. You might be able to figure this out on your own, or you may need to see a doctor. The problem is usually caused by pressure on the nerve where the nerve passes across or through the ligaments in a joint. The unlar nerve crosses joints at the shoulder, elbow, and wrist. If the pain or tingling occurs only on the outside of your hand and little finger, then the problem is most likely occurring in the ulnar tunnel - just like carpal tunnel syndrome, but in a different place.

A very common cause of ulnar nerve problems is sleeping with your wrist or arm in a bent position or overuse of your wrist from twisting or bending it. Other possible causes are bone spur growth in the wrist and chronic tightness in muscles or tendons in your forearm. If you haven't been doing anything to cause overuse, you can test whether the problem occurs during sleep by buying a straight wrist splint and wearing it at night. Also, try to sleep in a position where your arms are bent less than 30 degrees. If the problem is caused during the night, it will start to improve in a few days. If you can't find an obvious cause, you will probably need to have an MRI or x-ray.

There's a large nerve that comes down and around your wrist, it goes to these two fingers.
Have you injured your finger or hand especially lately? your wrist, like in a break?

An orthopedic surgeon can manipulate the nerve while giving you a mild sedative and can likely get the nerve to "wake up" something happen to do this.

You have ulnar nerve entrapment. Some people get this from leaning on their elbows.

Could be carpal tunnel. Does it hurt when you pinch or squeeze something?
