I have a Windows Xp Pro Disk and I already used the key on another computer. I know that by using this same disk on another computer. I will only get 30 days.

It is possible if the partion holds when you reformat, but with the price of drives being so cheap you should buy a separate drive for your data, that's what I do. When my OS fails, and Windows always does, then I just reformat and reinstall. The data remains intact. Then in case that drive fails, which has happened before I back up the data drive with a third one. I know it sounds paranoid, but I have had enough computer problems to have that need. Remember that once you lose data, it is very hard to recover and you may never get it all back unless you have records, another copy, or backups somewhere.

If you value your data then you really should isolate it from the drive that holds your operating system. A simple partion may not be enough to protect your data. I wouldn't trust it; I have seen too many problems with Windows. I have been using it since Windows 3.1 and I refuse to upgrade to Vista until the first update is released. I am not a Beta tester and I don't like running an operating system that is known to be full of bugs. Microsoft is famous for releasing its new operating systems too early. For Vista they pulled a real ***** since Vista can't use the same hardware drivers that Windows XP uses.

What happen is when you delete the partition, it becomes 'unpartition space'. 'C' drive will not reclaim the space unless you delete the C and D drive before installation and the rebuilt the drive as a single partition with C drive being the only partition. Windows will then format the drive before the installation of XP. What you now have is empty space on your harddisk and the C drive partition. You can still get the D: back by going to Control Panel> Administrative Tool>Computer Management>Disk management. You build the partition and format it again. However, if you need to make a single drive (C Drive ) without reinstallation of XP, thenm you need to get software like Partition Magic.

Yes, as long as you dont accidentally format the other drive. But i would get a portable hard drive and save everything to that instead. Its easier and safer.

Yes that is an excellent plan I actually use three partitions. Go for it, you will not regret it.
