Freecycle is basically an online free market where people post things they don't want or need anymore - from misc househould items, furniture, computer parts - really it doesn't matter what.
The idea is that one man's garbage is another's treasure and since you would normally throw these things out - you offer it up so 1) you can help other people and 2) it reduces the waste in landfills.
Check out your local area for a freecycle near you. When we moved here to Vegas we have gotten about 60% of our furniture - in good used condition and even a guinea pig for free on freecycle.
Most freecycles don't allow you to post pets - but in Vegas they have such an over population of pets they allow it.

The expression-Freecycle means to get a lot without putting much effort in. If you are pedalling a bike along a road, you put effort in, but if you go downhill, you can freecycle(not pedal) and still get somewhere fast.Nowadays the expression refers to people who bludge or get rewards, by letting others do the work.

freecycle.org is where to go to place used safe unwanted items to give away or if you are looking for a free item. After you go to freecycle, find your state and then the city. It is very easy to join. Not very many people in my area know about it yet but I'm spreading the word.
