Vanilla Extract is based on alcohol. It's the most economic way to get vanilla flavor out of the vanilla bean.
Fresh vanilla beans are not dipped in anything. They are cut open and the seeds are scraped into the cream to add the flavor. Much better this way, but much more expensive.
Like a previous post said, there is more alcohol in old fruit and yeast bread then there is in vanilla ice cream. Besides, most ice cream is pasteurized before it is frozen, so a lot of whatever tiny bit of alcohol is present will get almost completely cooked out anyway.

Well... if the ice cream is made with vanilla extract which is at least 30% alcohol, then you'll have a small amount of alcohol in the ice cream.
I don't think the manufacturer has to differentiate ice cream made from extract versus the vanilla pod itself. Also, I would believe that most manufacturers use extract since it's a quick and inexpensive way to put vanilla flavoring into ice cream.
The only safe bet is to make your own ice cream and using only vanilla pods.
Typically, vanilla beans (pods) are not soaked in alcohol.

Vanilla extract is made by putting vanilla beans into an alcohol solution. To call it 'pure' the FDA requires a minimum of 35% alcohol and 13.35 ounces of vanilla bean per gallon. So the answer is if the ice-cream is made using vanilla extract it has alcohol. Some ice-creams are labeled 'vanilla bean' which denotes they only use ground vanilla bean for flavoring, no alcohol. In my opinion these taste better anyways and Breyer's makes a good one.
