How can a church kick you out. Did they take a vote. I doubt this happened.

You sound angry about it.
Why?
It isn't as if the church can kick you out of God's heart.
It isn't as if the church can bar your way to Heaven.
I wouldn't let it worry me, I'd figure they had done me a favor. Who wants to go to church with a bunch of holier-than-thou bigots anyhow? I'd simply find myself a different church to go to...or, if I needed time to cool off first, I'd vent a bit in the R&S section of Y/A...then I'd think about looking for a different church.
You know, you don't have to be a Catholic. You could be an Episcopalian, or a Methodist. You could be a Baptist.
Or, you could take this old lady's advice, and not join any church. Just follow Jesus. Oh, I go to church, but I don't consider myself a member of any particular denomination. If I am asked, I simply say "I am a Christian" and leave it at that.
God bless you!
OH, btw...I am also a HUGE Harry fan! I have all the books but the last one, I have all the movies, except 'Flight of the Pheonix', which I'm planning to see at the theatre with my kid sister...I have a sorting cap on my computer, I gave my son a Gryffindor wallet for Christmas...and I even have my own wand.
Do you think God still loves this old Grandma????

Hey calm down! I´m catholic too and have been questioned about why I like Harry Potter so much, criticized as well and more than just frowned upon. Don´t worry the Vatican has made a large study about the HP success and found nothing against it. The deal in here is that ignorance becomes fear after a while, and this makes hate and violence sometimes.
Don´t blame Catholic faith, but the ignorant and fanatics that see evil everywhere.

I understand where u are coming from. When Harry Potter first came out a church i was going too was in an uproar over it.
Despite that ive watched 4 of the movies and most likely will watch the 5th...To me its just a cute story line of good versus evil.
by the way...dont let the prejudices of others...determine your walk with God.

Time to go up the ladder - talk to the Archbishop in your Diocese and explain the situation. If, that is, you want to be accepted back into the church. Of course, you could talk to the Archbishop to file a complaint.
Don't let one narrow minded person change your faith. I hope that you didn't let one priest leave the Catholic Church. If he did, I hope you remain Christian.
God Bless.

My church just ran a series of Harry Potter movies in the fellowship hall, so that young and old could get together and talk about how fantasy books and movies can also teach about good and evil. Something like that. I admit I didn’t read the bulletin very carefully. But they did show a couple of the movies.

hey! catholics are not stupid!
im sorry your own individual church was harsh on you, but you cant apply your anger to the church on a whole.
my family is devoutly catholic, but my little sis owns and has read every harry potter book. we also go and see the movies.
the catholic church warns against it, but it is up to our own free will to decide.
i hope you join the catholic church again, maybe you shoul dtry a different location..the church does not want you teave.
im sorry your old church made it feel that way!

It is a sin to bear false witness.
I am a Catholic and My kids have read them all.
My Priest has no problem with it.
I do not believe that this is a true post.
Smells like a troll to me.
Peace be with you!
Edit: who do so many "Free thinkers" automatically believe anything that is said bad about the Catholic Church (even when it is a lie) and not ever consider believing us when we tell them what our REAL beliefs are?
Goodness, and you call us blind followers!

Harry Potter is not worth losing your soul, bro...
...the Catholic Church may not guarantee your salvation…
…but it could be symbolic of you putting entertainment before the ways of God...
...wizardry and witchcraft is weak compared to the power of God...like throwing balled up sheets of paper against a brick wall

I am very shocked at what you say has happened. I am a Catholic, I've read and love the Harry Potter books, and I'm truly appalled at what that church did to you! Almost all of my Catholic friends read the Harry Potter series, and it is *far* from condemned in our large community.

If they have warned you time and time again to let go of the sin and you continue in it, then they have to put you out, you are sharing too little of the circumstances to judge if they were right or wrong.
But I do know one thing, that most churches today tolerate much too much behavior amongst their members without saying anything or doing anything about it, and that it punishable by God.
