read a good book, go for walks, meditate, take along some needlework, crochet, plant a garden and care for it, is it so terribly difficult for you to use your brain and entertain yourself?

Read books and magazines, play games. Go fishing.
Watch TV, if you can. Rent some DVDs from Netflix.
Paint, draw, take up a hobby. Go to a craft shop and see what kind of hobby you would take up. Collect leaves and do some leaf rubbing and observe the different shapes and patterns of the leaf veins. Collect wild flowers and press them between newspapers and heavy books. These don't cost anything but collection of used newspapers and taking along some heavy books. Listen to CDs or Cassette tapes. Life is what you make it: lots of things you can do. Just put your mind at work for creativity. All the best wishes to you.

I have a lake house too! Sometimes it can be boring.
What I love to do is sit outside and read. Or play games.
There's hiking, walking, swimming, boating, suntanning, and a lot more!
If you don't like these, just think of where you are and how beautiful it is! Maybe it will inspire you to do something fun.

Read
bake
watch movies
scrapbook
paint
puzzles
board games
take a walk in the rain
Maybe go to a craft store and find a craft that would take you awhile to complete and work on it during the times when you're stuck inside.
