Recently my dog has developed a half dollar sized lump on her shoulder blade area. For a couple of weeks I didn't know what was bothering her. She would avoid being picked up and when I did pick her up she'd yelp in pain. The only way I can describe what the lump feels like is that it feels as if it were an air bubble under the skin, it doesn't feel solid or hard. Yet it moves like a cist would. I just noticed it's been getting a bit larger and it's noticeable. I was hoping it would possibly just rub out but not I'm thinking it might be serious. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do or any idea of what it would be?

She's about 2 year old, 7 lbs, chihuahua.
Thanks for your time... any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Would you wait a couple of weeks to see a doctor if YOU had a lump growing on your side that hurt so bad you screamed everytime someone touched it?????

The same thing anyone should do when worried about an animal - take it to a vet.

This lump could be a number of things, no one can possibly suggest what without even seeing it, and being a vet! It could be a cyst, but the main point is it's hurting the dog, so you have a responsibility to get it sorted. You can't just wait for it to get better on it's own, you've done that already and it's getting larger now! Cysts need to be drained before they turn into abscesses. What does 'just rub out' mean anyway?

The dog needs a vet!

You know darn well what you should do - TAKE HER TO A VET!! If it is cancerous, the more you delay the more you are giving her a death sentence. The sooner you get her in there, the sooner the vet can get to the problem - and the smaller the bill.

It is her RIGHT BY LAW to receive proper medical care and to deny it is abuse. Get off your lazy butt, stop wasting time on the computer and make the call now. She needs to get into the vet soon, if possible today. Should it be a growth, they will want to address the problem very quickly and not wait. Remember, time is of the essence. Don't dilly-dally on this anymore. You've already lost precious time and let it get bigger and worse.

Don't sit here on the computer asking people for advice! This is serious! What's wrong with talking to a vet. It could be serious so why waste your time asking people about what they think! It can be a deadly tumor. Contact a vet!!

could be a small benign tumor.. I had a cocker spaniel that had a form of.. It became into quite small.. like the dimensions of a raisin..Take him to a vet to have a biopsy executed on it to make advantageous it is not cancerous.. however finding on the dimensions, they might say to maintain an eye fixed on it to work out if it gets any larger because of the fact now and back they are too small to do a biopsy on.. a great form of canines get those however..

I think you need to go to the vet. If the thing is growing and she is in pain that would cause me to run quickly to the vet with my dog. I was going to say it might be a deposit around her microchip if you had that done, but if not that, I don't know.

Your vet is the only one who can tell you for sure. But don't let her stay in pain.

My dog had something like this, it seemed to bother for a while so i took her to the vet. They said that if it didn't change that it would be ok, it could be a fatty tumor which is harmless...but it could be more. I would recommend taking your dog to the vet and letting them check it out.

Take your dog to the vet immediately - it could turn out to be a serious tumor of some sort.

Your dog is in obvious pain. Why do you allow him to suffer? Take him to the vet pronto. Your dog needs medical attention.
