Just need the text box to be a continual counter of the sum of all the numbers that flow into the cell associated with the text box.
Thanks

As far as I know you cannot use a text box as a counter, however you can set up a cell either to the right or left of the data and initially fill in the first 3 or 4 boxes in counting format then use the mouse to select these boxes and then on the lower right of the selected box you can drag to include all the cells below and excel will fill in the numbers in counting format.

I always add an apostrophe ' to the beginning of anything I want to show as text. Excel always thinks it is smarter than me and thinks it knows what I want and if I type September it wants to change it to Sep-08 which drives me crazy but I type 'September all you see is the word, but not the apostrophe. I use it also to type a Date that I don't want Excel to recognise as a date. Keep in mind that when you add the apostrophe in front of the number you will not be able to use it in any calculations.

Im doing this in cells a1-a4 where a4 is the adding sell I know there is an easier way than this in the new version but Im running MS Excell 2000 so here type in some values in a1 a2 and a3 then click on a4 hit the equals key. then hold the shift and hit A1 then in the box up top where it has the cell value add plus to the end of what is there then hold shift and select A2 in the box then add the plus again. and then click on A3 you shouldn't have to add to add the plus. then hit enter. from there is should show the added values of a1 a2 and a3.

so if that doesn't confuse you it will help you alot.

Your question is confusing, but I think I have the answer. If you have multiple data entries and you want to count the sum of them, all you have to do is enter the formula =sum(a1:a30) in a31 (if your data entries are in a1-a30). You can also average =average(a1:a30), calculate the maximum and minimum =max(a1:a30), =min(a1:a30), and many other functions in Excel. It is truly a great spreadsheet tool. If you have any further questions, email me.
