"Adam" doesn't really lend itself well to cutsie variants. Before you think too hard, make sure he likes the idea of a cutsie name. A lot of guys feel emasculated by too-cute names like "Honey-bear" or "snugglebiscuit." I'd advise going for a rough-sounding animal name like "Tiger" or "Cougar" or something. You could also consider his middle name, or his initials. If he doesn't mind cutesie, "Adam-cakes" could be a good one. Remember, cutsie nicknames are just the combining of affectionate nouns!

I nickname will just develop itself in time.
There Will be a moment or something he does that makes you think of a cute little nickname.
Nicknames are better when they have a sentimaental quality.
