I believe in God the Father Almighty; and in Christ Jesus, His only-begotten Son, our lord, who was born of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, was crucified by Pontius Pilate, and was buried; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of the Father, whence He is coming to judge the living and the dead; and in the Holy Spirit, the holy Church, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body. Amen.

This is the creed of the early church. The Apostles creed grew from the concepts and scripture and concepts Jesus gave to his apostles.

did you intentionally mess up the creed to prove some sort of point? That's not the whole creed.

The Nicene Creed is this...and is said at Mass:
We believe in God, the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
and all that is seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he was born of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered, died, and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in fulfilment of the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead,
and His kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son
he is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
The Apostles Creed is this and is said at the start of the Rosary:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.
Amen.

Yes, "holy Church" is Not Supported in Scripture. Who made it "holy"??? I should think that that would be a Pretty Important Detail to put in the Bible!!! But Nowhere is it "Named" or for that matter even "Discussed"!!! There is no talk of setting up any "Organization", or "Leadership Protocol" to even bring it about as well. This is just a vague statement/pledge which doesn't even mention WHY Christ came to earth or HOW these things can happen through Faith in Christ. Just one of those "Repeat it Enough and it Will Become True" type of "Control Prayers" of the Catholic church. NBD John

"Born of the Holy Spirit" isn't what the Creed says. It should be "conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary."
"The holy Church" should be "the holy Catholic Church."
It also leaves out "the communion of saints" and "the life everlasting."

There is no scriptural basis for "born of the Holy Spirit." Otherwise this does an adequate job of removing other unsupported doctrine from the standard creeds.
