For my frame? I am a shape where I do not have much of a waistline.. never did... a size 16 and size 38C bra size. I don't want to look bigger than I already am!! I don't care for strapless since my upper arms are just a bit too flabby for me to want to show those! Any help appreciated.

It sounds like you are looking for a modest dress, and their clearance dresses and regular priced dresses look so flattering.

Whatever you wear, you will look gorgeous! You´re the bride, and I´ve never seen an ugly bride because they normally radiate happiness and hope.

You sound just like me, except I'm a little more bottom heavy than top heavy. I wear a 36B bra, but I have a bubble butt. A-line dresses look good on everyone and are especially flattering to full figured women. If you like your collarbone and shoulders and have nice cleavage, go for an off the shoulder or halter neckline. It draws the eyes away from the mid section and the arms and to where you want people to look, your pretty face. The A-line dress will give the appearance of more of a waistline. Another good neckline, if you prefer to show less skin is a bateau neckline. You can find them with sleeves (short or 3/4 length or even long). Even a scoop neck or sweetheart neckline with short sleeves or cap sleeves will add coverage for the arms while drawing the eye to your face and neck. If you're not very tall (5'6" or more) I would avoid the empire waist style. It looks fine on shorter petite women, but on fuller figured short women, it makes you look stumpy. If you are amazonianly tall, then an empire waist style dress would disguise the tummy area and give you a very statuesque appearance. My advice, though, try everything on. Sometimes you're surprised by what looks really good on your body. Good luck and happy hunting!

A-line would create a waist and flow away from the body to help create curves.

Go try some on and take a best GF you know will give honest opinions and see what you feel the more comfortable in. Dresses can have sleeves too, don't forget! Your junk doesn't have to be hangning out in order for you to look amazing (=

Try a V or Scoop neck or sweetheart with cap or short sleeves and see how you feell.

You could also have a wrap if you want to go that direction.

Also, the bridal store attendants should be able to suggest some styles thye think will be the most flattering.

Congratulations and good luck!

I've heard that recently it's harder to find gowns with sleeves - so check out "modest" wedding gowns and dresses - that doesn't mean they aren't pretty or stylist, just cover more.
With the waist, I was in the same position as you - and what looked great was a 'basque' waistline, which is actually like a dropped waist with a bit of style, in a "v" king of shape over the belly, so then the skirt just flows down from there - hard to describe (sorry I can't do a link), but just watch that the skirt isn't too pouffy...
Good luck, just TRY lots of different styles - don't judge by just seeing something on a hanger....

Check out the bridal section here:

they have a nice variety of pretty dresses at budget-friendly prices most of which are not only not strapless, but have actual sleeves! The company specializes in plus-size clothing (at a size 16, your at the small end of their sizing), and has a key on the website to help you pick the style that will flatter your body type.

Even if you don't go with one of their gowns, click on any piece of clothing on the site. At the top of the description, you'll find a graphic of four dress forms. Click on that, and they'll explain body types. Click on the one that best matches your type, and they'll show you a wide range of clothes designed to make your figure look its best. From looking carefully at the details for your body type, you can get some good ideas of what to be looking for and what to be avoiding at other resources.

maybe you should try a 3/4 length sleeve. It sounds like an a- line shape would work best to help give more of an illusion of a waistline as well. What is your best body feature? if its your neck and bust, go with a lower cut neckline, if you have nice legs, go with a shorter or T length dress to show that off, but most importantly, wear what you feel the most comfortable and beautiful in
congrats & good luck!

I think you need to try on a few dresses - however you should really find out what type of figure you have - Im a size 14 with an hour glass figure - www.igigi.com can calculate that for you and tell you what best fits your size.
David's bridal got a section where you get to dress your own bride -its pretty cool. Just sign up and select the plus size category and then dress the virtual manequin till you find and idea of what you want.

Good Luck.

Something with some kind of sleeve may work. Something with a higher waistline like the first dress below would create a nice shape.

It would be best if you could try some on. Go for one that you do not think would look good. When I found my dress I thought it make me look bigger and it made me look like a princess and I am about the same size as you. Nothing that has waist lines, those usaul make you look bigger. Good luck

An A-Line dress will be the most flattering, as they work well on any body type. Go for a corset style to add more definition to your waist, with a straight bodice. A sweet heart neckline will add to your bust. Make sure your skirt is not too poufy. As for your arms, there are plenty of beautiful dresses with cap sleeves that detract from flabbiness.
