-A Christian who is intolerant of someone's homosexuality
OR
-An Evolutionist who is intolerant of a Creationist's refusal to accept Evolution?
I'm asking this not as a challenge, but as an objective question. If you say that in both cases, there is simply mild verbal abuse and argument against the person's beliefs, no physical violence or anything that serious, then which is worse? Is it not the same, since in both cases, a person's beliefs and lifestyle choices are being denounced?
If it's not the same, why?
And if it is the same, then what should be done about it? Should everyone accept everyone else's beliefs with no argument, or should argument and disapproval be allowed in both cases?
Hmm...

I said verbal abuse, ie. telling them what they do is wrong. Not actually taking action about what they believe is wrong, just stating it as fact. Therefore, denial of civil rights is not involved in that scenario.

I would say the first one is worse.
First, a Christian's intolerance of homosexuality is based on a hatred of who they are. An evolutionist is merely frusterated at another person's rejection of an alternate idea. And an evolutionest doesn't believe that the creationist is a vessel of sin and filth like the Christian thinks about the homosexual. It goes without saying that nobody thinks that creationists will burn in an evolutionary hell.
Second, while an evolutionist might try to convince a creationist of the theory of evolution, they probably won't try to insist that all churches teach science classes alongside their sermon. Yet creationists constantly try to get their ideology forced into public school science classes, despite the fact that creationism doesn't fit any reasonable definition of science since it can't be tested for using empirical methods.
Third, evolutionists might believe in a universe where only the fittest survive, but that doesn't make them hate, despise, or in extreme cases, assault and kill creationists. There have been countless examples of homosexuals attacked, imprisoned and murdered in the name of Christianity. Not just in the distant past, but in modern America. In this argument, only the Christian is arrogant enough to believe that their ideology is so righteous and beyond reproach that denying another human being the right to life and freedom is perfectly justified. After an argument, an evolutionist will just shake his or her head and walk away.
The two examples are nothing alike, and one is clearly worse.
But more tolerance and fellowship all around, I say! There can never be enough people who choose to live and let live.

The Christians intolerance of homosexuality. Unfortunately, they have too much influence on our laws and are affecting a homosexuals legal rights. In both cases, either philosophy could be used to incite a violent person to cause physical harm.

I think Evolutionists are getting tired of telling Christians to accept evolution so it's not bad I would say. Christians not accepting who someone IS, is another story. Hating someone because of a book written and edited milions of times coming from some magical person your supposed to devote your live to? Nobody I want to follow.

Ive never seen a person denied their civil rights due to their beleifs in Creationism.
Ya, the homophobe is MUCH WORSE.
There is PROOF of evolution. There is no evidence whatsoever for homosexuality being a sin, or even for God existing. Yet, the homosexual gets treated in a certain fashion based upon his lifesyle, while the Creationist just makes themselves look like a fool...

No the christian is attacking a person based on a lifestyle choice, and does so based on a religious book. He's forcing his opinion on another
the scientist (there are no evolutionists) deals with facts and denounces the bad science the christian attempts to use to refute evolution. The scientist deals with facts. period.
