From all the reports that I've read al Qaeda only accounts for about 10% of the violence in Iraq. Most of it is a civil war between Sunnis and Shiites. We've also heard reports that the Iraq's militia is battling al Qaeda in the streets. So why does Bush keep trying to lump them all into one group?

Bush must keep the lies and scare tactics central to his bullheaded determination to continue his insane, immoral, illegal, unconstitutional war.
Adolph Hitler once said: "The great masses of people will more easily fall victim to a big lie than a small one......make the lie big; keep it simple; keep saying it, and - eventually - they will believe it."
Bush, whose grandfather had ties to Hitler - almost certainly believes in such advice. AlQaeda is "the lie" and Bush must perpetuate it.
By the way, Hitler also said: "How fortunate it is for governments that the people they administer don't think." And I'm just as certain the Bush administration is intent on keeping the Rush Limbaugh 'ditto heads' from exercising any objectivity about this so-called war, which is, and always has bee, all about OIL and WAR PROFITEERING.
Our troops, the American people, and Congress have all been conned into believing we're there to bring democracy to Iraq or establish peace in the Middle East.
We're there for OIL and WAR PROFITEERING.
We will be there until every drop of OIL is sucked out of Iraq's sands. If that's not the case, WHY are we building the largest U.S. embassy in the world on a 104-acre site in downtown Baghdad overlooking the 'new' puppet Iraqi government installed by the Bush administration?
If that's not the case, WHY is Halliburton contracted to build fourteen (yes - 14) new permanent U.S. military bases in Iraq? We will maintain a presence in Iraq for decades, if not generations.
And the only way the Bushites can keep moving forward with their greedy agenda is too keep telling the same lie and stirring up the same scare tactics. That's why you see staged 'terrorist' attacks in London and Scotland - that's why you'll see another staged 'terrorist attack' in the United States right before the elections (in fact, you might see one sooner than that just to boost Bush's low popularity ratings in the polls). -RKO- 07/13/07

It's really quite simple. Al Qaeda was in Iraq before the war and before 9/11; albeit, not in the numbers that are there now. Al Qaeda's number one target in Iraq is the U.S. However, with their desire to see any and all foreign influence removed from Muslim lands, and ultimately destroyed, they are also fueling the so-called civil war. Al Qaeda is a Sunni organization. They assist the Sunnis in Iraq in their war against the Shiites. In other words, pulling out of Iraq will neither end the war in Iraq, nor end Al Qaeda's desire to see the downfall of the US and our allies.

Please cite where Al Qaeda consists of only 10% of violence in Iraq...

How did you get these statistics?

There is a civil war, which is why troops had been called back into safer areas as not to become too entangled.

The civil war aspect is probably more dangerous short-term, but Al Qaeda is growing concern due to imported mercs and radicals from Iran and Syria/Lebanon moving in to Iraq.

Unlike the Sunnis/Shiites, Al Qaeda is primarily interested in fight coalition forces and they are much more sophisticated in bombs and IEDs than natives and much more fanatical.

Because Al Qaeda is one of the single biggest groups of chaos-causing thugs in Iraq, and because they're a very real threat to both Iraqis, and Americans in the country. Because Al Qaeda itself has repeatedly called Iraq "its most important front in its battle against the U.S." All of these things are well-documented.

Because Al Qaeda is in Iraq. Terrorist organizations dont limit themselves to country borders. take for instance the terrorist group Hezbollah, they are trained and sponsored by Iran but they have the strongest presence in Lebanon. You can count on a terrorist organization as big as Al Qaeda to be present and/or have influences in most arab countries.

because he's ignorant, and because he's trying to justify his little oil adventure in Iraq by making it look like we went there because of Al Qaeda. well, guess what, georgy, Al Qaeda was nonexistent in Iraq before 2003. now it's TEEMING with the bastards!

Who is saying that only 10% of the violence involves Al Quaeda? Just by looking at the tactics used is enough to demonstrate who is doing what.

Just about every suicide bomber is Al Quaeda.

And whenever I hear somebody say ther there is a 'civil war' in Iraq I recognise that that person is not really aware of how small the number of people involved in the violence are.

i'm no longer in all possibility helpful how long al queda has had cells interior the u . s ., yet i recognize Islam declared conflict on us back interior the early 70s. of course we didnt take them severe till they began blowing up stuff distant places. Al Queda got here lots later, and Bin encumbered replaced into no longer the founder. Bin encumbered killed his predesessor to learn the ideal spot interior the Al Queda community. Al Queda made its deadly mistake on 9/11. till then it replaced into reliable and gaining strenght quickly. Now they are hunted, no longer purely via us, yet via many governments international extensive. they have been pushed deep underground and could be hunted till extinction. it is the reason this conflict is so significant. Its like the showdown on the ok coral. the two we win or lose. Winner gets the bragging rights, and to that end strenght and status, the loser gets shame. it is the reason the left in u.s. is so risky, they desire us to lose.

Matt, if you believe that 10% of the violence is originated by Al-Qaeda, why then wouldn't that be a pertinent reason for being there and for Bush to mention them?

Because that is the only card he has left to play to justify the U.S. interests in staying in Iraq. He trys to lump them all in one group so he can claim Iraq is part of the War on Terror instead of a massive distraction from the war on terror.
