Ok so my sister married an awesome guy and I want to get THEM (not just her) a great gift since I had a ridiculous 2006. To give some background, both of these fools love the outdoors and aren't about flash in anyway. They are huge travelers (Africa is their honeymoon) but both of them are very well prepared. They already have all the things they could want or need associated with whatever they are doing (e.g. already have bikes, camping gear, travel gear, ski gear, golf gear, bouldering gear...). I need to go outside of the box for this uncoventional two and I am willing to lay down up to $5k to make sure they get the best. Anyone have any ridiculously original ideas? Thanks in advance!

Two things:

1) I'm a guy (just thought I would let you know)

2) They are already doing some many adventure activities and vacations that I feel like they won't appreciate it as much. Also, they have pretty crazy schedules.

Thanks again in advance....btw we live in Chicago (just in case that helps!)

My brother-in-law got us a honeymoon to Hawaii - it was AWESOME! You are sweet to get her a really great gift, but maybe give them a second honeymoon like was suggested already and then some money in a savings account you don't tell them about till their first kid is born - by then it will have earned plenty of interest and will be another gift when money could be tight! Babies aren't cheap!

Wow, what a great amount of money to spend. You could check into trips down the Colorado River, white water rafting or a ski trip sounds like they have all the stuff they use for the trip too.

i think of you and your husband might desire to attempt and circulate out as quickly as you are able to. it quite is basically inflicting a great form of unneeded tension on your relationship. This relationship between your MIL and Tina sounds basically weird and wonderful too me. needless to say there is no reasoning at this element in time. attempt and circulate and then attempt working on your relationship with the inlaws. till then, it would not be a sturdy thought to rock the boat as a fashion to talk. you do not intend to make the area greater uncomfortable. in case you and your husband are finacially unable to employ a place, perchance inspect some sort of help or housing assitance. do not enable her purchase you a crib while you're nevertheless residing there however, she would be in a position to apply it as leverage and push it on your face each and every possibility she gets. in case you progression and he or she nevertheless needs to purchase a crib, enable her, thank her for it, and this way she would be in a position to not have the flexibility to hold it over your head.

WOW! I wish I had a sister that would spend that much money on me. You are so generous!

I think an outdoor trip that includes their interests would be a great thing to give them, like a white water rafting trip.

If they love the outdoors why not give them a gift card to Travelocity so they can plan a trip. They would never forget your generosity and would have the memories of the trip forever. Heck, they will probably give you a kick butt souvenir in return.

Willing to spend up to $5k?

Buy them a second honeymoon. Five days in Utah or Colorado where there are lots of activities like the ones you mentioned they enjoy.
