I'd say number one would be false representation. Not only could you be really disappointed for who the person actually is when you get around to meeting, but it could potentially be dangerous.

You mean, dating people who you first meet on the internet? No more or less dangerous than dating people you've met through other means.
I've dated a number of women over the years who I initially met on-line. And the results were not really all that different than the women I'd met through bars and clubs, friends, parties, etc. Some didn't go beyond the first date, some turned into very long relationships, some turned into nightmares, some just were fun for the short-term times they were. I can't say I was physically "deceived" on-line because in all cases I saw some photos first.
As it goes with any kind of dating, be smart without being self-defeating. Have your first meeting be in a public place, let others know where you'll be, etc.

About the same as with any kind of dating. At least on-line you can actually chose which ones you want to meet in person......You should exchange pictures and spend lots of time getting to know each other through email and on the telephone before making a date.
I met my spouse on-line; we have been together going on 4 years now.

The only real danger (in comparison to meeting them any other way, other than a mutual friend) is that they will misrepresent themselves (mostly their appearance) and you will have to spend time on a date with someone you have no interest in and are completely unattracted to.

Good news everyone!
I met a nice young lady over the internet once. She claimed to be only 120, but when we met in person she was clearly 130. She lied to me and it hurt.
Oh.. now I've made myself sad..
