You're assuming that we don't believe him.

Sound like Christ's baptism. Christ was in the water, God the father up above. Very similar situation.

I was not there and I don't judge the man's words. If he truly believed that what he saw was the Lord, then maybe he did. However, I can't agree with all the teachings he supposedly said came from God. The Mormon religion has many great benefits and I have some awesome friends , but I just don't believe it is the true way to Heaven. Thanks for the question and have a great day.

Joseph Smith dictated the translation of the Book of Mormon by putting his face in his hat with his so called sooth stone to his wife and friends. No one else ever saw the gold tablets he claimed to have found. Prior to that he had been convicted of fraud for using the same stones to try and locate lost items for his neighbors and charging them lots of money even if the item was never found. Joseph Smith was a huckster and fraud and the idea that his bogus religion could now be so legitimate is totally mind blowing.

The two big ones for the moment are Mormon origins, and the Book of Abraham which is a regular Egyptian funerary text, and there are many other smaller and big reasons.

Because Joseph SMith was a con man who had been accused and convicted to fraud even prior to his "religious" experiences. He had a tract record of engaging in witchcraft (divining). He also was immoral. He had adulturous affairs and then told his wife that "God told him to" marry the other women when his wife found out about the affairs. Anyone who can believe this man is very gullible.

Joseph Smith replaced into incarcerated in a small upstairs mattress room room with 3 different individuals of the church. It replaced into no longer a cellular yet a room which replaced into being guarded and used as a reformatory cellular. What could you do if a mob of indignant adult adult males got here bursting into your room blasting their weapons with purpose to kill? i think of my first instinct could be to bounce out of the window too. so a techniques as capturing back, that they had no weapons so how could that have been a threat? Did any of their attackers get injured? NO, yet interior the tip Joseph Smith replaced into killed wasn't he. isn't it basically as in all possibility that as a replace of attempting to flee, which i think of is totally actual looking, that the blast basically knocked him out of the window? as properly, did everyone ever say that he replaced into ideal? have been any of the prophets ideal? NO. purely one replaced into ideal and that replaced into Jesus Christ. in case you elect to stay a existence in accordance on your ideals, to under no circumstances waiver in those ideals and to attempt to do reliable all your existence as Joseph Smith did you will do properly once you face your maker. i'm very curious why you attempt to locate faults with Joseph Smith yet locate none with the adult adult males who murdered him? Why is that? after all, isn't this u.s. and does not definitely everyone deserve a straightforward and basically trial? Why did they elect then to assassinate him? it style of feels to me that the actual cowardice lies in people who committed homicide, no longer the victims. Your experience of justice...a look ahead to a watch style of guy. properly, then, if my experience of justice makes a decision that I would desire to come over on your place and shoot you without an ordeal as a results of fact i think you're in charge, i could be justified? does not make logical experience to me. via the way... your guessing that the trial replaced into in is a trademark of your prejudice. as a count of certainty that the trial replaced into no longer in. Joseph Smith replaced into shot till now he gained a straightforward path via cowards who have been worried of him being shown harmless.

Well, because anyone can say that Jesus and God appeared to them. (Oh, look - there they are now. Hey, Jeez, how's the wife and kids?) And JS was unable to produce any evidence whatsoever of his experience, despite claiming to have plenty. (The gold plates, the decoder spectacles, etc.)

Basically, there's nothing really there that would motivate me to believe him.

i do.

9 For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.
10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised

Funny thing is Smith never mentioned this until AFTER the Book of Mormon was published.

Must've slipped his mind.
