Go back to the sixties. If u like rock'n'roll, anything by Chuck Berry is good. For people to sing along to, Hound Dog/Blue Suede Shoes. Beatles - Let it Be. Twist and Shout. Yellow Submarine. Twelve Bar Blues will take u a long way.
For happy summer sounds try the Beach Boys.Instrumentals: Wipe out by the Surfaris. Apache, Riders in the Sky or anything by the Shadows. Folk:Tambourine Man Dylan/The Byrds. Times They are a-Changing. American Pie. The list is endless, but hope this helps

Anything by Hendrix. If you can play that, you're in good shape. Anything by Eagles, Hotel California has one of the best solos featuring Don Felder and Joe Walsh. And hey, Joe Walsh is a lot of fun too.

If you're really, really good, pick up an old Mahavishnu Orchestra album featuring Mahavishnu John McLaughlin.

Clapton is great, and fairly accesible. BB King is cool.

Depends on your taste - and skill level.

Blackbird by the beatles is interesting, as is Hotel Calfornia by the Eagles and Sultans of swing by Dire Straits is a good hoot. If you want a challenge, try something by Uli Jon Roth (eg, firewind).

Oh, and as others have said, sweet child o mine is great to play
