If my boyfriend and I wanted to get married somewhere like Hawaii or Fiji, what all do you have to do? We just want it to be the two of us and obviously the person that marries us. But, do you get someone to marry you once you are there, or how does that work?

You could use a destination wedding planner. Go to your local bookstore and look in the wedding section for destination wedding planning guides.

Also, most hotels and resorts offer wedding packages, you could find a few that you like and contact them for more information. Wyndham resorts specializes in destination weddings at its resorts!

If you go international there will be certain rules and restrictions as well as different paperwork so you should definitely know what you have to do before you get there!

I am not married, but we are planning our honeymoon for Fiji and I have been doing a lot of reasearch about the islands. You must have the following:
-Both individuals must possess an originial certified copy of their birth certificate
-Passport
-If previously divorced, a copy of the divorce papers

Most places require some sort of a deposit prior to the wedding just for confirmation purposes. Often times the remainder can be paid upon arrival. A lot of times you have two choices, you can do a traditional Fijian wedding and they may provide you with a flower girl and so forth. Generally you are also provided with cake, a toast, dinner, the minister, and if you wish even a choir to sing for you. The ceremony alone will likely cost you anywhere between $2500 - $4000. Fiji is gorgeous and good luck!

Hawaii on the otherhand, it is unlikely (if you get married on Oahu) for you to have a very private ceremony. The weddings on the beaches at Waikiki tend to attract a lot of tourists that are just passing through. Even though you might be on the hotel property, people will still watch you from a distance. If you don't mind that then I would recommend going through the Hawaii Wedding Company. They perform their weddings in Maui.

Find a hotel or resort that you like in your location. Then ask them about helping you find an officiant and ceremony location so you can have your wedding. They'll be more than willing to help. They get these requests all the time!

Best place to start is with a local travel agent where you live - they can hook you up to the world! It's amazing the contacts they have, and will have all sorts of info on destination weddings, and packages, all around the world.
