No christian will abide with freedom of religion unless it pertains to them. few years ago a group of Pagans held a march in Jonesboro, AR for religious tolerance. The christian churches bussed in people to protest and the police had to search them and remove the stones they were caring to throw at the Pagans. That should tell you something about the freedom as it pertains to Christians.
One answer on here states it is hard for a christian to set while another religion tells lies when THEY know the one true truth. But they fail to realize that ALL religions assume they and they alone hold the true one truth of god.
Then they wonder why they are the only religious group persecuted after they persecute all other groups first. I say keep your religion to yourselves, stop trying to force others to believe the way you do, stop telling lies about the inability of a child to pray in school (it is only the school that can not force a child to say or listen to a prayer, a child can pray at anytime in school as long as they do not disrupt the other students.) If Satan is the father of lies then the christian church is his child.

The Jefferson statement can be argued against with the fact that *George Washington (Our first President) ran the country according to the Bible. And other people saw it the same way. Just to mention a few, Abe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson.

And it was a natural reaction because whether people like it or not, this country was founded on God and Country. And every Country has a main religion. Ours happens to be Christianity. And what people don't realize is that most of our laws are based off of the Bible. (Check out the PAST HISTORY of America.)

And let's flip the coin, so to speak. Would a Hindu Senate let a Christian say an opening prayer?

freedom of religion was originally meant to be the freedom to worship God without the pope or some such group dictating the stand up, sit down, prayer, candles, etc. etc..

some how it became expanded to included all kinds of weird things which has gone so far afield as to make it a joke.....

the hindu prayer before the senate is such an example....

the senate has always been opened by a prayer from a pastor or minister of the Christian faith...."One Nation Under God" part of our traditions and such of our culture....

The American public is insulted by this action...In an effort to make everyone comfortable we have allowed infringement on what is "American"...the melting pot is still RED AND WHITE AND BLUE no matter what or who....

Would hindu allow a christian prayer in their government??? never...any other country?

I believe that they do. I think that most Christians, not all, feel that they would hate for their religious freedom to be taken away, so therefore, they are sensitive to the belief of other religions. Think about this: There are so many different types of people in this world. Indian; Chinese; Mexican; Native American, etc...God made all of us different with the right to make choices of our own to best determine what is right for us. Why would he limit us to what we believe?

Of course it is just lip service. We who aren't of the main stream religion know that, the Christians know that and the media knows that. The reality is so far away from "freedom" and will probably stay that way for a very long time. Sigh.........

NO noooooooooooooooo. Remember the children of USA native people and Australian Aborigines were taken away from their families forcibly - to be taught Christianity. Remember crusade, remember colonizers in Africa - people were killed and maimed for Christianity.

Only after losing the masses due to Darwinism - they pretend to believe in "Freedom of Religion". Bullshit, today USA Muslims are being harassed by Christians like Bush and infidels like Dick Cheney.

Typical case of Christian bigotry and hypocrisy, I am not surprised." Freedom of religion", sure anyone should be free to practice only Christianity ,that is what they think as freedom of religion.

I am a Christian and I think that was rather rude of them. I can't judge them as Christians or not, but, if they are, they are not representing Christ very well. You can make points against other Faiths and religions without being so angry and so rude. Christian means "Christ like", not "jerk like" Have a great day and thanks for the question.

if you are a true christian then you believe that christianity is the one true religion and all others are fake. (this is a literal interpretation of the bible)
therefore you could not believe in freedom of religion.
