It is so rude! I drive me nuts when I do something nice for somebody and they just walk away and don't even show any type of appreciation like "thank you". I can't stand when people don't say "please" too because then it sounds like you are being ordered to do something! A lot of people have a lack of consideration when it comes to these things and it drives me nuts! It is a respect issue and a lot of people these days just don't have a whole lot of respect for each other. I like to say "If you respect me, I will respect you"! The other thing that bothers me is when you pass somebody and smile at them and they don't smile back--or when you say "hi" and they completely act like you don't exist--or even when somebody walks in a door right before you and they know you are there but let the door slam in your face instead of holding it! It's these simple little things that are so easy to do that could make this world a much better place in my opinion! And I know plenty of people that are shy that are still capable of saying "please" and "thank you"--so that is why I say that is is just rude! Sorry that was a lot but I was talking about this with other people not too long ago!

Depends on if they look down or away, then I'd say shy. If they don't even give eye contact and rush by, then that's rude. At least in my book.

I don't think shy is the appropriate term for people like that.

In behalf of all of us shy people, that is plain rudeness.

It is rude. It shows me that he or she doesn't appreciate my efforts or my worth. I once had a coworker who worked on a year-long endeavor with me, and not once did he say "thank you" or "please". Even getting him to say "hello" to me was like pulling teeth, and when I asked for some manners, he just gave me the cold shoulder. I felt very violated by his uncouth conduct.

No, not shy, just clueless/ignorant or rude.

Rude.
Shyness is not a factor in this case.

I'm shy, but I still say please and thank you. It's rudeness.
