Quite a few would be screaming about the aliens being demons in disguise...or by extension, then event would be proof to them that the Vatican was demonic.
Only the most rigid, fanatical religions would be damaged by the discovery of intelligent life elsewhere beyond Earth...the ones who insist that God created the universe as a stage exclusvely for humanity's drama. The rest would simply adapt. Some wouldn't need to change at all.
What should really bother some people would be the people who would try to convert the aliens! (Don't deny it...some idiots would try.)

Catholics never said there was no other life in the universe. We believe the earth was created for humanity, but that doesn't mean God didn't create other planet for other intelligent being. If aliens landed in the Vatican it would strengthen our religious belief, not shatter it.

Personally, I am a Christian, and I believe that God is a creative God. Meaning, there's a big huge universe out there, and I'm pretty sure He's made some other worlds. Just because it doesn't mention it in the Bible doesn't mean it isn't true.

Maybe. The people on the edges might be shaken, but the extremists in the core of religion would state that it was a test sent by God, and that we must destroy them.
