Some popcorn with flavoring in it ( they sell flavors in stores like oriinal butter, BBQ, cheese, etc. )

Homemade trail mix, your own concoction. Some ideas to put in it would be :
-mini-marshmellows
-granola
-dried fruit
-chocolate/butterscotch/vanilla/Peanut butter chips
-popcorn
-chocolate/yogurt covered rasins/pretzels
-pretzels
-an assortment of nuts
-mini rice cakes

Also, you can precut some vegetables and put hummus in a tupperware container, same with fruits. Or, just bring a couple yogurts in a cooler or cold soup (Gazpacho). Pasta salad could also be good, or maybe something as simple as a PB&J sandwich or other kind of filling.

Hope that helps!

Since it's summer, let's try and think cool and juicy and things that don't melt.....most of this stuff can be placed into zip top bags, or food storage containers (think Tupperware)

Frozen grapes (ever tried these???)
Apple Slices
Raisins
Jar of peanut butter and a sleeve of crackers (plastic knife!!)
Granola
Juice Boxes
Baby Carrots (the small peeled kind in 1 lb bags)
"Squeeze Cheese" (the kind in the can in the cracker aisle)
Pre-sweetened cereals : think Honey Nut Cheerios, etc.

I think you get the idea......

Now, for the most important.....bottles of water, 2 rolls of paper towels and a pop up container of baby wipes, plastic knife, These aforementioned items will make cleanup and cleanup of "accidents" a lot easier......also, you might want to bring some old grocery bags for litter, which we KNOW that you'll place in the proper container and NOT out the window....Enjoy your road trip, and safe travels!!

This recipe is from a childrens cooking site but it means that everything is easy and quick to prepare. check out the web site below:

Chinese Chicken Wings

2 pounds chicken wings
2 tablespoons Hoi Sin sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/3 cup ketchup
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Rinse chicken wings and pat dry with paper towel. Tuck the wing tips underneath.

In a large bowl, mix together remaining ingredients. Add wings to bowl and stir so wings are covered with sauce. Cover with plastic wrap and store in refrigerator for at least 2 hours (or overnight for extra flavor).

Place chicken wings on greased grill pan and grill on medium heat for about 6-8 minutes on each side. Brush on extra sauce during grilling.

These wings make a tasty appetizer and can be served hot or cold.

Grapes, cherries, and apple slices or maybe a banana make for guilt-free goodies. Keep a pocket knife in the glove box for trimming fruit. (You'll be surprised how handy that pocket knife is on an extended trip.) Except for the banana, keep the fruit chilled in cooler.
Cherry tomatoes make another great snack -- wholesome and refreshing. They don't need to be kept in the cooler.
Consider individual fruit servings from your grocer's shelves: applesauce, canned fruit, or mixed fruit.
Carrots and celery sticks make great snacks. Prepare them before leaving home.
Pairing nuts and dried fruit is like eating candy that is good for you. Try pecans and pears or cranberries paired with whole almonds.
Have a great trip!☺

What I like to do, is make up a chicken and rice dish. Then I refrigerate it and use it for "homecooked lunches" throughout the week. It really works out swell!!

Just cook up a pot of rice (preferably brown)
meanwhile fry up a bunch of boneless skinless chicken breasts. (I usually season with some garlic, cumin, and basil) Then add it to the rice. Then add some cooked corn, canned kidney beans, canned olives, steamed carrots, etc... Use you imagination. It makes a great one dish meal. Just refrigerate it and dish it up whenever. zap in the microwave for a minute or two and then serve.
Buy some fresh fruit and your set for some great lunches / dinners.
