New York has so many great places for steak, it's more of where do you want to be. There's Peter Lugar's in Williamsburg, Bklyn, that most people say is the best, but back in Manhattan, The Palm, Smith & Wilensky, 21 Club, on the cheaper side, Raoul's in Soho, Four Seasons, the Old Homestead. There are just so many. You can always check Zagats for more, and to check for addresses to find which one is in the area you want to be, and also for price ranges. Most of these restaurants are quite pricey.

Some people like Ruth's Criss or Morton's steakhouses, but for my money the best steak in NYC is at Peter Luger's Steakhouse. There's one in Brooklyn and one in Great Neck (right on the border of Queens). One caveat: they are old school germans and don't take credit cards.
