I am a proud gun owner and i think that in todays society owning a firearm is a good saftey precaution. I dont plan on killing anyone but the mere sight of a gun can scare most criminals away. Most people know that the police can be a little slow in an emergency if you can even call them at all so why rely on others for your personal protection. you have a right to defend you, your property, and others from harm so why not use it?

people do not understand that a gun is useless unless someone is pulling the trigger. i think if the people were more informed, they would be less terrified.

my wife used to be TERRIFIED of guns. when i signed up for the academy and got a firearm she was freaked out. i taught her how to operate it and shoot it. because i refuse to have an adult living with me that does not know how to operate a firearm, i think it is dangerous. now she wants her own lol.

A gun is a tool. It's purpose is to make it easier to kill, maim or threaten to injure another person. If that were not true, then no cop or criminal would want a gun. If you find it surprising that people are scared of such things then you are deluding yourself.

Facts are facts - most human beings behave irresponsibly at least some of the time. I'll bet that anybody reading this knows someone they think would be scary if they were holding a gun. If you then add alcohol to the picture, people get very scared indeed. The stats for alcohol+gun related injuries in the US are horrific.

The gun lobby is simply denying reality. Why is it no other western country has this problem? Oh yeah, cos they don't have such easy access to guns.

My dad has several guns. Guns are easy to operate. It doesn't take much effert to fire a gun. If a 5 year old can do it, it must be easy. People are quick to go with the negitive. Due to the fact that guns can be easy to buy, the careless can obtain one. What would happen if person with issues buys one? All heck could break loose. If a person is responsible by all means, go ahead a get one. But, again, so many lunatics are buying guns and its the quickest way to eliminate a problem in someones life. JUST BE CAREFUL WITH IT!

People are so afraid of guns because our schools and controlled media have brain washed them. All this in an attempt to make guns so distasteful to average Joe citizen to have him back gun control/confiscation. Our 2nd amendment is the only reason we still have some freedoms left! It is the only reason cops and other assorted thugs don't routinely kick down doors and invade homes. They never know what they will be facing. Never give up your guns!

people are afraid of guns because they themselves have probably never handled a firearm or have not been trained in some sort of firearm safety. And since they don't have a gun or have used a gun, when they hear someone was shot, they assume it was a criminal act and then stereotype

I don't have a gun and I don't want one, but I'm sure glad nobody can be absolutely sure I don't have one.

People aren't afraid of water, but a backyard swimming pool is 100 times more likely to kill a child than a gun in the house.

Because a lot of gun owners are criminals or racists.

Not all of them - and I support your right to bear arms, but you have to remember - most gun owners don't own their guns legally.

The only gun control this country needs is a good eye and a steady hand.

I've never heard once of anyone calling a gun owner racist. More BS from the right.

Because those people out there are so ignorant of History and have no idea that the reason Hitler was able to cram people into the death camps is because he had Guns registered (just like Clinton) and crammed people into Death Camps cause they had no way to fight back.
