A combination of different factors can conspire to form dark circles: aging, sun damage, heredity, allergies, and even poor lighting.

Probably the only fat you don't want to loose lies right under your eye and above the cheekbone, called the infra orbital fat pad. It thins with age, producing a sunken appearance. Light reflects off this recessed area, creating the illusion of shadowy circles. (Contrary to popular believe, most dark circles have nothing to do with actual changes in skin color.)

Because of aging and sun damage (with some genetic tenancy thrown in for good measure) microscopic blood vessels under the eyes can lose their stability and strength. The body compensates by forming lots of tiny new veins. A thinner fat pad means those veins are closer to the skin's surface. The result: darker dark circles.

A couple of quick fixes:

apply moist cool tea bags (caffeinated, like Earl Grey or English breakfast) is a quick fix for puffiness. the tannins in the tea decrease the inflammation, reduce swelling. The caffeine draws water from the skin deflating puffiness.

another fix is cool cucumbers. Enzymes in the cucumber slices reduce the tissue inflammation, shrinking bags and helping erase unbecoming shadows.

These are great appearance enhancers for when you need to look your best. They're temporary, but they work!

The best bet is to conceal with makeup... Yellow neutralizes blues, purples, and dusky hues on the skin.

And treat antioxidants stimulate the activity of fibroblasts cells in the dermis that help create skin strengthening collagen. This firms and tones the area. The best fibroblast-stimulating antioxidants include Vitamin C, and GHK copper peptides.

Preparation H(there are inexpensive generic brands) is an ages old pageant secret that works great on under eye puffiness! Be sure to use it only once in a while as a quick fix though. For the dark circles: apply a foundation that matches your skin tone using a makeup sponge(including over your entire eye area) then dab a small amount of yellow-based concealer over the dark area then blend!blend!blend!

I would not recommend ice, frozen spoons or the like because skin and the blood vessels in the eye area are very delicate and easily damaged.

Cucumber eye cream at bedtime(store brands are fine), drinking lots of water and always getting enough sleep will keep you looking your best!

cucumbers, potatoes, tea bags, cold spoons, warm spoons....maybe they do work.

Try massages and exercises. To massage: first warm the area with a warm towel. Then massage away from the oedematous puffy area. Also massage the eyelids. Use warm coconut oil for best results. Next: avocada pulp on the eye for 15 mins. After bathe the eye in cold water. And gently rub fresh aloe sap around the area.

exercise the eyes. roll them, look this and that way, blink a bit, scrunch your face so that the area around the eyes get a bit of a workout...just do anything to get the area active.

Do this morning and evening before turning in. Should clear up in three or four days. Otherwise the problem is a little more complicated. Good luck

I've heard that there are LOTS of different causes for bags and dark circles under the eyes, so maybe it's just something you haven't discovered yet. You've already tried sleeping earlier for a week and that didn't work, so maybe it's heredity. Do your mom, dad, or any other relatives share the same problem? If so, you probably won't be able to remove them completely, but at least you can use certain remedies to treat and improve the dark circles and bags under your eyes. Below is a site I found that lists inexpensive at-home remedies for dark eye circles. I hope it helps!

two things-an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
what does that mean to you-that I am not going to answer your question? the point is your body gives signals-when you go against its needs-your body sleep paterns can be changed but they have to be done with little changes, slowly.

In Jesus prayer, for you, David--I would advise you to see the doctor, not about the symptoms but about the problem creating them. If you have faith try the great physcian first, if not try everything, then try asking Jesus into your heart to forgive sins and be your friend, amen. (Revelation 3:19&20) then ask for a miracle-seek and you shall find.

# YOU CAN USE A CONCEALER FOR QUICK FIX : Using yellow will neutralize the blues, purples, and husky hues on the skin. This does not remove the problem, but can build your confidence for the day, by alleviating the 'tired look'.

# YOU CAN USE TEA BAGS AND CUCUMBER : Yes there is definitely something to those commercials where women have cucumbers and tea bags on top of their eyes. Both tea bags and cucumbers reduce inflammation and decrease swelling. Tea bags are especially good to use for dark swollen circles because there is tannin inside of the tea that helps with eliminating the puffiness.

# YOU SHOULD USE MORE ANTI-OXIDANTS : Antioxidant treatments help to reduce fluid buildup under the eyes, which decreases the dark circles. Therefore, you should go for treatments that involve a lot of vitamin C and GHK copper peptides. Also, vitamin K is great for restoring stability and strength to the blood vessels under the eyes, which reduces their proliferation.

You might try a home-remedy. I've tried one using tea bags. Moisten the tea bags with cold water, squeezing out the excess, lay them on your eyes for about 10 minutes. It has helped. I too get some relief from using ice but the darkness also remains. The only thing that I've found is using some concealer. The only alternative is to have some cosmetic surgery! Good Luck and let me know if you find something that works.

I'd like to suggest that you try using a cucumber on a regular basis. Then there's
chamomile tea bags. After boiling the tea bag and it has cooled off place one on each eye for twenty minutes. I, suffer from seasonal allergies and my eyes are always puffy and uncomfortable with dark circles. I noticed results and the circles gradually disappear by drinking lots of water, eating healthier and getting some rest and relaxation. You will now began to pamper yourself in order to treat your eyes. Having fun and laughing will also reduce the stressors related to such a sensitive issue as your eyes which are the windows to your soul. These items are inexpensive and effective. The results are beneficial

Cut 2 slices off a cucumber, not to thick not to thin slices, just a regular size put each slice over one eye and sit back and relax for a while. Try doing this before you go to bed at night once a day is fine if you have time go ahead and do it twice you will see results after two to three times. How cheap is that, a cucumber cost you about .50 Good Luck
