I've never donated blood before so I'm not sure how I'll react. If I'm feeling fine afterwards, is it okay to workout?

You should be fine, some people feel a little dizzy or weak you should not try any hard exercise or workout for at least 8 hrs ,Giving the body time to replace the blood lost and the area the needle went into the vain wall can be a bit wek and needs to heal

As a blood don er of many years, I have to say no not recommended. After the donation they will tell you to rest & take it easy for about 4 hours after, even if you are feeling fine. You can always get back into your workouts the next day.
Also check out www.redcross.com they have an informational video of what to expect.

It should be okay if you give yourself a little time to recoup and try drinking some oj and have a few cookies. I wouldn't go workout for at least a gour or two you may get dizzy. Especially since this is your 1st time and you are not sure how your body will react. Also do a light workout.

If you feel fine, wait a few hours and perhaps don't do as intense a workout as you might otherwise...monitor how you feel and if you start to feel "off" then quit (the workout) for the day.

And bravo you for donating blood! ☺

It's not advisable because donating blood usually leaves you weak and dizzy. Whar you're advised to do after donating blood is usually to rest and eat lots of fruits and iron-rich foods to gain your energy back.

Offhand, this sounds like a no-brainer. No.

However, I'm not a nurse or doctor. Ask someone at the collection station.

No. You should give yourself a break first and rest up. Trust me, I did this once and it wasn't pleasant.
