Yo scottie. Man i wish i could join you. Wine is always a fab thing!!
Well I would suggest wines produced from Australia and Chile cause, these two countries are currently the biggest producers of new age wines for chardonnay and Merlot or a Shiraz for a inexpensive bottles. However, if you are ready to add a pound or two more, then go Italian man. I strongly suggest a pinot grigio(white) or a barolo(red). Never fails in taste and satisfaction.
Oh by the way, don't forget the cheese and grapes!!

I stay between 3 important wine transforming into areas in California. i'm additionally the wine supervisor at a variety of section, and that i'd advise a pair in case you may get them on your section. First, St. Francis Zinfandel (a crimson), 2d, Stag's bounce Petite Sirah, and ultimately David Bruce Pinot Noir. Justin Vineyards makes an particularly accepted Cabernet Sauvignon.

Yellow Tail has some of the best cheap wine around, a bottle will run around 8-15 dollars.
The Cabernet is good stuff.

Anything from Paso Robles area, but their Zins are fantastic. Four Vines are great wines and moderately priced. Turley are amazing but very hard to find and likely expensive. Justin, J Lohr, Eberle and Castoro Cellars also put out some excellent wines from a very hot region.

If you like red wine, anything from D'Arenberg Winery is good. They have some really good reds in $20 price range, but the Dead Arm Shiraz is my favorite (of course it is $75).

My offo has a nice red wine, called vineyards 2006, Spanish Garnarcha and it is really great.. Only £2.95 a bottle too. Asda do a Hidden vineyards medium red cost £3.75,again quite good.. I don't find any real advantage in buying expensive wines. I don't enjoy them any more, but then I am not a wine buff or expert( I cant spell connoisseur )

Australian red wine is good. 'Hardy's Stamp' is a safe bet, also ' Nottage Hill' Both are available at Tesco. I find the Spanish and Italian wines can be harsher. Californian is excellent, any Merlot will do nicely. I am having 'Nottage Hill' tonight.
