You want to use your iPod, you can only use iTunes with it. End of discussion.

This is by design. Apple wants everyone to use their software so you get an "Apple experience" from end to end.

You can beat Apple's insistence that you use iTunes with Xplay which basically integrates iPod syncing into just about any Windows application including media player. It will cost you about $30.

A free option to iTunes is MediaMonkey. It does not support WMP but it is anther way to bypass iTunes on a Windows machine.

they are not compatible. You can only use itunes to sync back and forth to an Ipod. there are other itunes types of software, but windows media player is not one of them.

Two different file types. Ipods are made by apple for use with Itunes. you can download itunes for free.
