since my grandparents have passed away, I have dreamed of each several times. I do believe that it is a method of communication from the other side. I was never terribly close to one of my grandfathers, but I have dreamed of him and he has told me things about the family that I have wondered about. (I am the family genealogist/historian). I never knew my great-grandmother, but she came to me in a dream and showed me things that I never would have learned about if I hadn't asked them about her side of the family (as the result of the dream). Since this has happened, my family has been able to open up somewhat and talk about certain events and issues that would have otherwise stayed secret. Pretty cool, huh?

I always used to dream about my grandpa when he died. It reassured me that he was watching over me. Its a hard thing to go through and that comfort does help.
Its all how you look at it. No one can tell you how you feel. If you felt an ounce of bondage with that person there is still something there. Even if it was one night out on the town.
Dreams mean a lot but you know how you truly feel and that is whats important.
Best of luck

Once they die all communication with that person, spirit, or soul comes to an end . If you are dreaming of them it just that a dream. If they were saved and are now in Heaven and you are also saved, at the time of your death you will see them in Heaven and know them.

Attempting to give significance to dreams to absurd. Dreams are merely your subconscious mind becoming active in deep REM sleep. There is no deep hidden meaning, no communications with the dead.

I've dreamt of people who died whom I knew but was never really close to. I even once dreamt of someone I never met who basically died in my dream, only to die in real life 2 days later - and I only first met him after he died; a family member of an ex of mine whom I've never seen, not even in pictures.
Maybe lucky for me, I've never lost anyone very close to me - yet. But I do dream of people who have died, though, whom I've known at least a bit before they died.

When my husband died of cancer, this happened to me and to my sons in separate experiences. We all saw him as a young man, which is notable because my sons had never seen him that way.

I don't think there is a rhyme or reason in how the spirit would appear to you...but maybe more likely if you were close in life...
