Because so many of them seem to assume that I signed on to the same rules -they- signed on to?

First, I -am- perfect. I am exactly what I should be, at this time and place and under these conditions.

Second, unlike most of you, I know your book.

Third, I have no need to justify nonsense out of fear that if I don't some big invisible mute guy is going to drop me in a Lake of Fire or curse my kids for the next 9 generations.

So why accuse me of hypocrisy when, by -my- standards, I am entirely consistent?

Why accuse me of hate when I seek to open your eyes?

Why expect me to treat nonsense with reverence when it has led to such a long list of atrocities against humanity?

That you cannot question your god or hold him accountable doesn't mean -I- can't hold christians responsible for their hypocrisies, does it?

I am a Christian, and I actually agree with your point.

Just remember, Christians are still imperfect people. They still have the same reactions that most people have when being judged- they don't like it and will become defensive (even if they are in the wrong for doing so...)

When they judge, they do this in error. We are commanded not to judge, that judgement is left up to our creator. We are also comanded not to judge those outside of the church against our beliefs but to hold those in the church accountable for their actions.

So I do apologize for those who are still young in faith, that make these mistakes. Please have patience with them, they are probably still "infants" of the faith.

Wow. Brilliant question, really. I'm gobsmacked, there's actually intelligent life on this board.

All I can say is, in this day and age, *everybody* thinks they're right - no matter what they think. So basically what we're left with, is half a dozen of theories, all supposed to be right, and no way to actually prove them. God exists, creation exists, God doesn't exist, evolution is the whole truth and nothing but, aliens are our ancestors, there are more Gods than one... As I see it, no one's right. Not even I, you or anyone - not even science.

After all, who are we to say how things happened when we weren't there *when* it happened? Doesn't that make all of us - not just Christians - hypocrites?

But so far, I would say the most plausible theory is evolution.

Now, as for your question - yes, they do have a defence mechanism. Some psychological blockage that kicks in whenever you mention that God doesn't exist. They just stop listening to reason.

As for you saying that you are perfect, however dangerous that might be to declare it - people often mistake the whole meaning behind it - you are, everyone is. Perfection lies in knowing that nothing is perfect.

I have read very many bibles and teachings from all spectrum's of life. I have made this my life since I was very little my self. I happen to use my bible as a guide.

I find it very true that the ones that claim to be infallible and loving as the leader they follow seem to be the most short tempered, ill mannered, angry people, they hold judgment on their brothers as if they were a god. Be it Catholic or Protestant, Pagan, all to the way to eastern religion. Everyone thinks they are right.

But the most given that we all can share with each other is love. I wish all would not try and place condemnation on each other. To try and enlighten and educate each other with our thoughts and share in one system of life.

But one thing that is never failing for us all..

Is Love

yeah I know I am a muchi muchi can't help it.

Certainly, go ahead and hold Christians accountable for their hypocrisy. If you spend any time on this site, you must recognize that the defensiveness comes from all sides.

Psychotherapists recognize that defensiveness is often a sign that a person feels his or her values are threatened or feels personally threatened in some way. I believe that it is the less mature believers who tend to get defensive. More grounded and rooted Christians realize that there is nothing to be threatened by on this site.

I think you just judged us, because we believe the book that you say your know. If you know the Bible so well, tell me where it says, that man is perfect. It doesn't- and knowing about God, is not anywhere near knowing God. Also what does it say about what the purpose of the Bible is? Knowledge- no- its says, that it is to point to Jesus-
I am a Christian- and I admit I do not always do what is right- and that is why I need a Savior to help me live in the way that pleases Him.
You are consistent in that you have not come to the point of realizing you need a Savior- I am consistent in that I always admit I do. that is the difference between you and I. You can choose to believe what you want, but please don't expect me to believe as you do.

Sorry, dear, but even as a Pagan I have to wonder where you get all of this pent up hostility.

How many Christians do you know that sound like that? Because I don't know any. There are some on this site, but in real life, I've met far more peaceful and kind Christians than wackos.

Let them believe what they want. As long as they aren't vandalizing my stuff or trying to convert me at my house, is there really a reason to be so negative?

Orion? wow you look like Santa Claus, you are not the enemy and you must be true to your own heart, and as long as America is America hopefully you will still have your opinion and be able to speak it in a free country. But America is now trying to take away your freedom to speak through Laws to fight terrorism. History is in the process of repeating the mistakes of World War II except instead of Germany being the enemy it is America trying to take over the world through the United Nations and religion as the Power. And religion does not care so much about you but real Christians as opposed to make believe Christians.
Real Christians are the enemy to Satan and this is who he cares to kill most;
John 16:2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
So I have no problem with you, because God has not called you, but the enemy is Judas Iscariot and so many people like him; Mark 14:44 And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.
Luke 22:48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?
People call themselves Christain's and for a little money sell their souls to the Devil, James 5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
Jude 1:11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Some people get defensive. Faith is a hot topic and people are sensitive due to some of the questions that are asked.

However, I know what you mean. I get the same flak.

Just don't mistake the rebuttals of some as being defensive.

That is the essence of a good debate!

it certainly doesn't.

sounds like you have recently had a near-fundamentalist encounter, which is only slightly more disagreeable than a bad ulcer or case of the 'roids.

I wouldn't worry about it though; "Christians" that present themselves as full of bigotry, hate, judgmental hypocrisy, self-righteousness, and bile speak louder for themselves than anyone else's criticism ever could.

I grew up in a southern baptist home. my stepfather once said that since St. Teresa was a catholic she was burning in hell.

These kinds of people are their own worst enemies, outing themselves as the extremists they are to anyone with any good sense or half a working brain.

The cure for fundamentalist of all stripes? laugh at them, then ignore them. they hate that the most anyhow. or for fun, encourage them to continue in their poisoned ways and pretend to agree with them around others that know you aren't serious.

no reason to become as they are, or give them the satisfaction of being taken seriously. :)

I apologize if you have been treated wrongly by a christian. There is absolutely no excuse for that. We as Christians are in the business of loving not matter what. Myself and I am sure a lot of other Christians out there are embarresed and send our apologies for the way you have been treated. God Bless!
